So I walked over to the local Timmies for my 1st tea of the day. There is a bike lane that runs right out front and needless to say it is more often than not filled with the parked cars of people getting coffee. This morning however there was a parking ticket cop hiding in a little alcove ticketing everyone who stopped in the bike lane. A continuing trend perhaps? Lets hope so. I almost bought him a coffee.

^^WORD!!^^

Due to an error in grade three math, I am actually only turning 41. I suppose it could be my 42nd year I used to be a beer fish and stopped for 6 months and it did me a world of good, now years later I'm a much better drinker in terms of being moderate. Tobacco has simply got to go. I hadn't factored that in Keith but now that you mention it, whyTF not eh? You seem to be doing well without the smogs.

As for the other....an opportunity to clear me head. Looking at it like a reboot of the meat.

As for the straight-edge thing, I've never been much of a drinker, never smoked a regular cigarette in my life and I've never bought/owned any drugs. It wouldn't take much for me to give it up altogether, but I do like a nice cold beer on a warm Summer day. I don't consume enough of anything "bad for me" to really motivate myself to give it up for health reasons.

I've never understood cigarettes, but maybe it's because I've never smoked any. I don't get the attraction in any way (other than simply addiction, of course).

also: chocolate soy milk is awesome. Regular chocolate milk is also good, but I've heard nasty stories (which are probably untrue urban legends) that have turned me off of it permanently.

I remember how and why I started cigs, and how easy it is to get sucked back into it after you've quit. I can attest to it's addictive qualities, man those chemists sure know their onions.

I quit smoking (again) after almost 10 years. It's been a total grudge match this time but I'm resigned to it. I think it's been well over a month now ... kind of lost track. In my mind, this is just "it" so I haven't worried much about it.

I quit doing drugs after a morning where I realized I'd grown accustomed do doing regularly doing enough drugs to kill a normal person several times over. I never liked smoking weed but would unfortunately gravitate to combinations of stronger drugs. Then a few years later there was a long term addiction to synthetic morphine that landed my ass in detox. Not exactly fun times, but that's how it goes.

Drinking ... never been a drinker - thanks violent drunk dad! I do love an ice cold lager at the end of a day or a few vodka sevens if I'm out. That **** costs too much though and hang-overs don't jive with my current "getting **** done." lifestyle.

+1 on most of that. No violent dad, but several alcoholics in the family including one who died last year. Doesn't exactly encourage me to drink.

ps. nice runnin' in to you last night. You called out to me just as I was about to yell at the jackass on the motorbike blocking my way.

You should get some scotch and have a tasting between the two of you.

Sadly scotch is not a taste she has acquired. Looks like wine and steak instead. Its rough but sometimes you have to make sacrifices.

chocolate milk is a favourite of long-distance cyclists. think of it as an energy drink.

this is why i don't buy chocolate, ice cream or really any sweets because if they are in the house they will be gone in one sitting.

I find eating/slurping yogurt containers to be gratifying, it quenches your thirst as well as fills you up. (and you don't really need a spoon either)

Oh, Mike congrats on the smoking thing...and um, did the fenders come in yet?

When I get a place of my own I am buying one of those really expensive 'volcano' vapourizers for safety applications. They're like over 500 bucks but in the long term well worth it. They work AMAZINGLY too! I'm not really all that worried about toxifying myself but I know I'm definitely not doing my lungs any favours (I even had a tiny bit of a wheeze after sprinting into a headwind on front today). As for drinking, 2 cold beers on a hot day is like a meal with a side of vitamins. I'd hate to not have that in my life!

Tried cigarettes once... and only once. I don't feel any different and I get all light headed. Haha. I gave the rest of my pack to some bum at the subway station.

Okay, I'm making the executive decision to change the scotch tasting to Thursday, May 3rd. PM me if you have any social conflicts in case we need to reschedule.

I used to smoke for about a year back during high school. Then I just stopped one day after smoking like a chimney during a summer in france (even my parents started smoking after living in france! They are still at it in Dubai now.). In 1st year university I used to be a fiend for smokes when I was drinking. During the past few years however, having a cigarette makes me feel pretty ill, and not in the good sense of the word. The idea of having one is not appealing.

Ask any doctor and he or she will tell you that the worst thing you can do to your body is smoke cigarettes. Being an alcoholic sucks and smoking too much pot isn't good either but you are better off doing either or both of those drugs than smoking cigarettes.

i used to roll my own smokes when i worked as a bartender in the UK. mostly out of boredom to be honest and when i came back to canada and tried to keep up the smoking habit i found it was just too inconvenient, you can't really smoke anywhere here. i'm glad i don't, even though everyone in the restaurant industry does, probably because it's the only way to get a break. so i just stand outside with them and shoot the ***** with a coffee in hand.

PS - scotch next thursday works for me. the more the merrier. is it okay if i bring something i made in my bathtub?

If anyone out there leaves their lock attached to a bike ring for convenience make sure to remove it today. The City guys just came by and cut one of my minis off the ring out front of the shop. Thanks for enquiring at the BIKE SHOP if those are being used. Jackasses.

It would be an interesting experiment for someone to lock up their own bike and then bring these tools to try and steal the bike. I wonder if people would do anything to stop you.
