Anyone know where to get a half decent set of mtb wheels complete with disc's?

kona paddy wagon
I picked one up, picked it for price & function as it'll be my everyday ride. It's a tank, sturdy & heavy. I've left both brakes on as I'm singlespeeding it for awhile. Decent components, the brake levers are nice being oversized & seemingly the same shape as campy brifters, nice comfy hood action. I got full fenders for it but I've only got the back on, my front fender came missing two bits of hardware and I almost got in trouble snitching them off the wife's Raleigh but I thought better of I'll just get some next time I'm in a shop. With full fenders it'll be a perfect everyday bike. It feels really....durable. and it looks okay, good colour. It comes with Conti...I forget and it's downstairs, Conti something low, on sun rims, so the first flat is a *****, bad combo, bad bad combo grrr If I didn't have about a million plastic tire tools I'dve gotten mad and said to hell with the brand new unscathed rim and used my metal ones. That's the only thing I didn't like about it. I didn't even look at the tires in the store or I would've had them switched out then and there |
Well, I played bike polo today, sort of, after a fashion, not really actually. We practiced and after awhile played teams but with no rules except foot down and no contact and right hand only mallets.
That's the most fun I've had on a bike for as long as I can remember, I was half convinced it was going to be silly, and it was but not stupid silly no fun to play, instead awesome silly amazingly fun to play. No one present had played before, so everyone started from zero, it really is a good test of bike handling. We didn't get to play on the rink as planned (there was no plan) and we ended up in the dog pit playing on hardpack and grass, great fun, the dogs loved it and took the ball on a regular basis, they did take one ball home too but someone had brought another. At one point there were 7 bikes on two teams, one team had a tandem with a dedicated driver and a mallet wielding stoker & the other had an extra player or something, it was quite the spectacle. We tried bike frisbee, but that didn't work as well as the bike polo Next sunday is going to be a blast, it's totally a game you can play right off without too much acclimation. I'm tired |
Oh and something else, tat thing in my sig is back on again, we're taking more time with it this year so we expect to do well with prizes and have some really sweet stuff to offer as well as the after-party. Our goal last year was to send 2 messers to Oz and we did that, this year we want to send as many as possible to Dublin which is much closer, practically right there compared to Australia. Last year we raised $2225.00 to the penny and every penny went to the tickets to Oz. We did that in just a few weeks, we think that with a little more time we can perhaps send 4-6 winners to Dublin to rep for TO.
We'll be adding prizes and sponsors as they come/are found, so keep checking back to see your odds improving! |
Nice running into DanCharlieChristianToby in the market today. I found those granola bars I wanted at the grocery store across from my apartment! And they were selling them for less than Dominion. I win!
Man Bikes on Wheels was stupid busy today. Ah, summer. |
Does anyone have any good leads on chrome forks in the city. Doesn't have to be new just not rusty. My fork steerer is bent :(

How's the chain treatin' ya Charlie?
Dom where'd you find those bars? I've had a major craving for 'em since you brought it up. It's killing me. Today I rode a carbon-framed Trek Madone with criterium geometry today and my god I will never be the same! I cannot contain the glee I feel after riding that bike. It was so fast, so comfy, so light. The guy let me wear his road shoes so I got the full deal. I need one! (oh yeah keeping it on topic: blah blah blah fixed gear) What an awesome day! |

I got them at the J&J Supermarket at Roxton and Bloor. Dominion should have their shipment in by now too.
Uh... blah blah fixed gear. P.S. For a few seconds there I thought you meant handlebars by "bars" and I was trying to figure out what the hell you were talking about. |
Ok sweet thanks for the tip. Yeah I'll just hit up Dominion.

Zing!
I'm going to dropkick your mom. Actually, I have no idea why I said that. I'm sure she's a lovely woman. Perhaps I should send her a basket of muffins in apology. P.S. the 42 cm Cross-Check doesn't look as hilarious as I assumed. Bikebikebike! http://velospace.org/node/2692 |
You should just send them to my place... I'll make sure they get there, I swears. Ps. she likes blueberry.

Wow. That thing is so pretty and white that I hear an angelic choir singing when I look at it. You should get it a halo. :)
