Source for late 80s frame?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Source for late 80s frame?

Other than spending hours and hours poring over all of the stuff on ebay does anyone have any useful suggestions for finding a late 80s / early 90s frame in very good to mint condition? Has to be something that will take a rear wheel with a 7 speed cassette and downtube index shifters as I'm trying to re-use all of the Shimano 105 stuff off my too-small Trek 1200. Thanks!

Yeh, like my friend who just found a nice Peugeot - complete with sew-ups - at a dump near him - in good rideable condition. Unfortunately I don't really have any thrift stores near here except for the usual clothing and household stuff.

There is no issue using a newer steel frame with 130 dropouts and simply clamping the narrower OLN hub in it. Just be sure it's got downtube bosses for the ****ers.Even if it doesn't,you can buy adapter pods from www.rivbike.com to use your downtube shifters as barends.Ebay is the best bet for a decent frame.Stuff does turn up in thrift stores and garage sales, but you spend lots of time looking there too.
