Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

That's a huge shame, @PhotoJoe and @3alarmer. As someone who has been on water restriction off and on for ten years, I feel your pain.

My advice? I didn't realize that I was offering any, but um, okay. I was simply making an optimistic comment based upon recent reports of the abnormally large warm water blob that some hope will have a positive effect on the drought. Why this was worthy of ridicule, I don't know.

Whoa!!!! Hang on. In looking back, I can see how you are reading that, but that was not my intent. The weather "experts" called for an el nino this year, and they missed it by a mile. My comment was that I truly hope you're right. Building the ark out of hope and optimism, not sarcasm. Sorry it came off that way.

I've got some advice: Move somewhere that has water--it's a basic element of civilization.

Speaking of weather, will it ever be warm again? I'm starting to doubt it. I'm tired of being cold everyday.

This is on top of the mountains, but still. Freakin' snow in May.

We missed out on an ordinary summer. It rained a lot and there were very very few hot days. Which suits me, but the rain did get tedious. It's very rare that the cherry farm where I work had full dams at the end of summer.

Leaving shortly to check out the shattered remains of my cycling group. With the former leader ceasing his single weekly coordination email, there have been instead 15 back and forth emails and no clear plan. Oh joy. I'm thinking this will be 65 solo miles, and I'm bringing gears, mainly for the company.

Syracuse won the Golden Snowball again. We'll probably get some snow in May. But it'll be 70 today.
