Yeah, all this bike pr0n. Too many BILFs. Gotta throw in a clunker to cool things off. On a serious note, I really dig those Merckxs.

The Synapse with the Kry SSL's has better wheels IMHO, has a better handlebar and stem, has a better seat (Fizik Arione), may have a better crank (or maybe not) and is lighter by about 1.5 pounds. Is that worth $1,000? Depends what you want.
Enjoy your Felt!

According to the reviews, a DA Synapse actually weighs 15.2 pounds so I was giving the Felt the benefit of the doubt since the difference is closer to 2 pounds:
Synapse "Floats" Over Tarmac...
Cannondale's R&D team promised comfort, speed and a body that would still feel fresh even after long rides. With the Synapse, they have, without a doubt, delivered the goods. "Although arriving late to the carbon party, the Synapse is a good arrival. In fact, it's a very good arrival! Floating over the tarmac and even after 6 hours of riding, on partially bad roads, we wanted more." They went on to say..."It's certainly more than a cyclosportif bike,[in fact,] this is a bike that can also be raced. With a frame weight of around 1100g, there's been no compromise in the pursuit of comfort. The fact that the complete bike wieghs just 6.9kg is equally impressive."
Coming straight from the snow, the eager testers from Sykkelmagasinet could hardly stop riding the Synapse, concluding their review with ..."Long climbs, fast desents, time trial intervals and village cruising. The only thing that stopped us was the dark!" - Oyvind Aas, Skkelmagasinet.

Not a big deal either way weight wise. I had not focused on the difference between the DA and Ultegra bikes. Given the fact that the price difference represents 32% of the cost of the Felt, and the fact that the Ultegra Synapse does not come with the SSL's, the Felt looks like the better deal - riding issues aside - if you don't mind having a black bike.

You mean like 55cm frames, 175 mm crank arms, and 110mm stems? I thought we were already there.
