Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I use two scoops and that's fine for me. K-cups are only when I'm in a hurry, else, it's the Aeropress or a Bialetti Mocha pot.

Nah, it's not that much colder here than NYC, maybe 5-7 degrees max at times. Most days there's only about 2 degrees difference on average.

The one nice thing is that in the winter we have fewer damp days than the city because we are further from the ocean .

Point is, none of them has a climate suitable for human habitation. Minnesota, the city, upstate... might as well be Yellowknife.

We've been trying to find somewhere to retire with reasonable weather, I hate the heat and she hates the cold. Have to find somewhere with moderation.

Nice and sunny out here in the Pacific North-West. I am sure it is cloudy, dreary and misty back home.

Moderation also entails affordability. . That eliminates Cali.

Besides, it's going to float away after the big one anyway.

Yep, but then AZ will be the new CA. Get in now before the rush.

Taking a shower without guilt would be nice, too.

Don't give him any ideas. We have enough transients here. Yuma triples in population every fall. Yuck.

If it weren't for the water supply issue, AG and I could be your new neighbors. Loved Phoenix the time I was there, and Austin is still cold from time to time...

It gets cold in Phoenix too...on January 3rd, other than that, it's pretty nice. I enjoy the heat though.

Full appointment schedule tomorrow and one brain MRI on the books. Going to Disneyland and was hoping to sneak out early.

"Can you add on an appointment tomorrow for a Yorkie who can't walk, is mentally dull, has already had an MRI and spinal tap elsewhere with no clear diagnosis and also is losing weight and BTW they need to come in the afternoon because they are coming from 3 hours away?"

Yes.

"Can you squeeze in a Weimernaner tomorrow who has been having seizures and afterwards tries to violently attack his owner?"

Yes.

"Can you do surgery on this little Pomeranian tomorrow who has had back problems for a month but now has taken a turn for the worse and can barely walk?"

Yes.

Sounds perfect. Can't figure out why anyone doesn't enjoy the heat. Anything under 40* and I'm miserable.

Well the Yorkie people called back to cancel, they have decided to euthanize the dog. Probably for the best.

The Weimeraner people inexplicably rescheduled for a future date, even though we were squeezing them in because there's 3 small children in the household and we didn't want the dog to hurt anyone.

The Pom is a go, though. He doesn't look that small but he is all hair, weighs all of 2 pounds, that will be one tiny little spine.

Hey @Bah Humbug, how is Toby feeling?

It's over 110 this whole week and everyone at the office is confused as to why I'm riding my bike...my response, "there's always a breeze on the bike!"

Too late. Have a SIL in Phoenix, I've been considering AZ for a good while now. I'm thinking Flagstaff might work for me.

The Toby-sir is mostly fine, thanks - little less production at a time than he used to, but no howling, and less clingy than he was earlier in the week. He got his last dose of the bupra-whatever last night, and the last dose of anti-spasmoidic is tomorrow morning. After that he's down to just the antibiotic once a day, which will be a lot happier for everyone. He's fighting it less too, fortunately. Thanks for checking! I think he's in the clear, but have a follow-up with his regular vet for next Friday, almost at the end of the antibiotics. I'll let you know what they say.

How does the transplant math work if I go from being a transplant in Boulder to being a transplant in Austin to being a transplant in Phoenix? I think that's an SAT question.
