Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I strongly favor wearing glove when riding. Good for fatigue/comfort in any conditions and helpful in a crash. Once you've ground gravel into your palms that gets infected, they seem like a pretty good idea.
I got a pair of those last year. They already have a hole in them. Good gloves aside from that.

Anybody tried Assos or Rapha? For the money you'd spend for them, I'd sure hope they'd last. I'll pay, I just want to last.

I like the placement of padding on Gripgrab gloves and they seem durable.

I have a lot of pairs of gloves, but the current favorites (if you like padded gloves) are the bontrager classique 1/2 finger glove. real pittards leather, and so comfy. they're too warm above about 75 degrees, but from 55-75, and on long mileage rides, I haven't found anything better.

Plus, they look cool as hell

I've been using Pearl Izumi PRO Pittards (no gel version) for a few months now and really like them. Comfortable and they are pull on to there isn't any velcro strap to dig into your wrist.

I buy three at a time, in different colors, and rotate. They cost about $9.00, and last a couple years.

Pearl Izumi Select fingerless work great for me, picked them up when they were only $12. Should have gotten more than one pair

Pure craziness in my opinion. Gloves offer better grip when your hands sweat, protection of your palms if you go down, and loud colored gloves act as better turn signals too. I use Troy Lee Designs Ace Glove because I like the colors and it's touch screen compatible, unlike many other gloves.

I've tried Assos. Wouldn't reccomend. They seemed nice at first, but the stitching started coming apart on one glove after a couple of weeks. The second glove followed suit in a month or two. I wouldn't have bought them for full price anyway, but I thought they'd be worth a try at a discount. So far I haven't found a pair of gloves that have lasted, so I'm thinking of buying relatively cheap ones from now on and considering them as disposable/one season use items. I may also try a more gentle washing regimen, only for gloves as I haven't had any trouble with other clothing items. I'll be watching this thread for other suggestions.

I just ordered 2 xtra pairs (one SF and one LF).. FYI REI online seems to have these at 1/2 off right now. same for the long-fingered version. great value
