Hey guys,

I just recently ordered a 2016 Giant TCR SL and I am very enthusiastic about it. It looks very very sexy (lime green color) and since I already own a previous gen TCR I am sure that this new one will ride like a dream.

I haven't seen any posts around here commenting on the new released model. Is anybody in this forum looking forward to seeing, riding, owning one? I'd like to know your impressions so far. It seems to be a promising bike. They assure it has the highest stiffness to weight ratio on the market. I expect mine to be around 14 pounds finished since I am upgrading pedals from the build and this frame is supposed to be almost 200grams lighter. My previous build was 15.4 pounds. The setup is the following.

As a current TCR owner (2014 TCR Comp 2), I am really looking forward to checking out the new line. I absolutely love my TCR, and if there is as much improvement as I've heard, it'll be tough to not end up picking one up. I'm looking at the TCR Advanced SL2.

Nice looking bike. It's interesting that the front large chainring is a 52 when so many other bikes on the market are compact these days.

The SL2 is the one I got. I'll be switching my DA9000 to the SL2 and selling the 6800 as soon as it's taken off the bike. The wheels seem like a nice set of wheels too for a stock bike. Hope you get one!

An acquaintance spent some time on the TCR Advanced Pro 1 a few weeks back. It's the non ISP bike with Dura Ace, same wheelset. He had one for a weekend. He was really impressed with the wheels especially. The rep from Giant that he was riding with was glowing about the ISP bikes.

Wow! I like what they've done a lot! There's a lot of shapes that are obvious as to the benefits, but it's also HOT.

It is marketed as a pure race bike whereas their Defy is the one suited for the everyday road rider, I think. I currently ride 52/36 so it's no change for me.

Yes sir. I am thinking that changing the Groupset to DA9000 and the stem, bars and saddle to carbon it may drop to 14 and change all done with pedals.

That's great however, I think for your bike just getting a decent light pair of carbon wheels might improve performance more than just trying to lower the weight. That and a really good tight fitting gear and aero helmet would be what I would upgrade first.

For myself I too got a taiwanese bike the Merida Reacto 7000e it comes with ultegra Di2 and weights ard 7.2kg... that's ok for an aero bike. Cos it comes with rather heavy Fulcrum Quattro 35 training wheels it won't be an issue to get the weight down to 6.5kg if I really looked for lighter components however, its already at a very decent weight stock.

Only thing is I gotta wait till end Oct to see my baby !

We get our first wave of deliveries on TCRs the end of next week. To my knowledge they're not available yet (Pro & SL level). We've been backordered/pre-ordered on a full size run of various tiers since mid-July. We've pre-sold most of them, which is very promising because the TCR did not sell well for us this past year.

That's unfortunate the 2015 version didn't sell well. For some reason, Taiwanese brands aren't given the same respect as some other brands, the fact the Merida is a close second to the Cervelo in terms of aerodynamics should tell most that these brands have some serious R&D behind them.

I remembered when Giant first came out with the Cadex and it was universally loathed but within a short period of time, Giant bikes started showing up at amateur and pro events.

Merida earned their stripes by making stuff for everyone then went and got some German engineering lol!

Hawt bike, Luis! Congrats. Giant has made some great strides in that bike for 2016. It will blow the competition away. I think you will be amazed. I hope the weight comes in as you expect. As you probably know re: your current TCR, Giant is notorious for missing their target weights on the high side. Hopefully, that won't be the case with your new one. If it would help, I can build you some 1,000g carbon, low profile, tubie wheels like the ones I am riding. Very sweet. Chinese rims, but what the hey. Took 1/2 lb off my Giant down to 13.2 lb (no pedals) and that frame weighs 1200g.

You can get just as light with an aluminum stem as with carbon. That can save some money without any weight penalty.

Hard to say. We sell Giant FS bikes 3-to-1 in the same shop. We can't keep the Trance & Anthem in-stock in a Medium for more than a day or two, often times the bikes are sold before they're built.

Truthfully, at least in the case of the 2015 (and for our shop), the Emonda was just a rockstar in the category. I think my close ride on Emonda test rides was something like 85% for the year. We've always sold more Domanes than the Defy and the fact that Giant went all in with disc on carbon Defy has not helped.

On the other hand, we sold a lot of Propels. It helped that a local Pro/1/2 team rides them but they were extremely popular. The S3/S2 is a huge seller for us as well, despite the fact that I think it carries a pretty heft premium (price).

Nice. Finally someone posts a cool bike instead of some junky walmart bike with Claris on it asking if they can "upgrade" their bike by putting an 8spd derailleur on their 7spd Claris shifters or some other frankenstein nonsense.

I just order the SL 2 like this one. This shot is from a Giant store in asia, I'm assuming they threw on the profile design wheelset for the macho look.

My bike came in last night. I am super impressed with the build and looks of it. The set up is Medium SL frame with Enve ses 3.4 power tap, da9000, carbon contact sl bars and stem and giant carbon bottle cages. It weighs 14.44 pounds without pedals and bar tape. Seat post is not cut yet. I believe the final build will be around 14.8-14.9.
