Did you get a good look at it? I only took a quick glance, but I'm not so sure that there were actually spacers on it - I think that it was naked steerer.

One day on my cruise last week, three of us old-timers were on the bb-court shooting around and reminiscing about shared experiences in the old days. Soon a group of kids who wanted to use the court challenged us to a half-court game, figuring that once they beat us we would leave. So we concurred. There were about 7 of them - a couple 8 y olds, a couple 12 y olds, and a couple 15 or 16y olds . . . against us three 60+ old-timers.
We smoked them, and thoroughly enjoyed pounding hell outta the little snots.
But in the end, once the adrenaline subsided, we retired to our staterooms for a nap and the kids got the court anyway. Little bastids!

Again, this is all based upon one glance - RPK may have had a better look and it may have been covered in spacers.

OK, a true story. A couple of years ago a 14 year-old girl in my club was far too good for the local competition in her age group, races consisted of her simply riding away from the field. So, we got her a British Cycling dispensation to ride in adult races. I took her to a Cat 4 crit, she sat on my wheel throughout and then outsprinted me in mid-pack at the finish.
when I climbed off I said to her coach "Great, I'm now officially slower than a 14 year-old girl". He said "Don't beat yourself up about it, she's 15 next month".

It probably wasn't pre-loaded as much as it should have been, but it was plenty long enough to grab like a handle; I would guess that he pulled on the steerer while tightening the stem.

Definitely. We were grateful we didn't have to play the game full-court. That would have spelled an early end of us.

No lie!
No, we exchanged high-fives when we crossed paths. But I did make the littlest ones jump up for it.
Funny, I never saw my two teammates again. They must have been still napping.

Oooh! Another SPC highlight. Every official trash location had cans for 'Trash', 'Recyclables', and 'Compost' and an official trash czar to ensure the proper placement of refuse. I accidentally threw a paper cup into the trash can instead of the compost can and they nearly flogged me.

O dear, I do believe the rains have begun in earnest and I don't have the rain bike set up.
Just needs wheels, pedals and bar, I guess...

That's top-shelf enjoyment there.

Can you replace a chainring without removing the crank? I want to swap a 40t in for my 46t on the singlespeed.

This would necessitate the purchase of a lockring tool (which I eventually will need to buy anyway). I think I'll swing by Bike King on the way home and see what they have in stock as far as tools and parts go.
