Heh. When I first did Cycle Oregon in 2002 many people were sitting around in the beer garden the evening after the first day of riding wearing shorts and sandals. We were camped on a cattle ranch. It must have been in the low 50s to upper 40s at the time. It got down the below freezing that night because there was ice on my tent the next morning.

So yes, we get long, cold winters here, but that said, I remember being colder in the winter when I lived for a few years in Charleston SC, believe it or not. Damp cold is colder than dry cold, in my opinion. It's gawd-awful hot and humid in Charleston in the summer, but I remember being cold in that town more than hot.
As for me, temperatures in the morning right now have been in the low 50s F for the last couple of weeks. I ride to work in cycling shorts and a wicking tee shirt as long as it's 50 or higher and the sun is up. If it's cloudy or windy and in the low 50s, I might wear a 1/4-zip pullover, but I haven't had to wear more than shorts and a tee shirt since summer started.
