joining a team - is it worth it?
Hello,
I have been riding for over 4 years and this year I did my first few races: 5 crits and 3 road races. I am looking into joining a team, but I was wondering about the benefits. I mostly ride/train solo and I hear I could benefit from riding with more experienced riders. What do you normally get with joining a team? I will be going to some team meetings these coming weeks to check them out.
Any thoughts are appreciated.
thank you,
juan

if this primarily about racing, you should ask this in the racing subforum.

What you'll get depends on the team, but typically, shop discounts, discounted team kits, and sometimes some help with race expenses.
More importantly, comradery the opportunity to learn and work team tactics, and learn from more experienced riders.
Additionally you'll have the opportunity through your team to support the sport. The structure of amateur racing in the US is premised on racers belonging to teams, and those teams volunteering. Each team is required to sponsor a race. If you're going to race on a regular basis, you should join a team and do your part.
