I was talking about the cycling sandals. They seem narrow for some reason.

You know that story about apes, bananas, a ladder, and a fire hose?

Yeah, what is the story?

It's not even true. Scientists put a bunch of apes in a room with a ladder and bananas hanging from the ceiling. Ape climbs the ladder to get the bananas, and all the apes get the hose. This happens for a bit...apes don't go for the bananas. After a while new apes get rolled in one by one, and after enough hosing whenever a noob goes for the bananas the rest tackle him. After a while all the apes who'd experienced the hosing are rotated out yet the population continues to prohibit anyone from getting the bananas without even understanding why. Something like that... |
I don't think I've spent more than $35 on a tire since 1994, when I got some fanciness for $65 - that's $104 in today's dollars!!!!

Why would you wear sandals cycling?
Google the keen shoes and you'll see that they are not open sandals but more like shoes with big holes. |

I was so confused. I thought maybe the sandals only came in taxi yellow with black and white checkerboard patterns on them. Or maybe the cab was held together with straps. Or maybe "keen" was just being used as another way to say "neat". After Googling all the related topics, I now see just how significant this whole sub-topic was. Thanks for sharing.
I do not like them on a trike. I do not like them on a bike. I do not like them in a cab. I do not like them in the lab. I would not wear shoes, "Keen," you call I would not wear them one and all. |

When I built up my first commuter, maybe 6 years ago now, I read the internets and they all told me I needed Armadillo tires, so that's what I rode for like a year. I then bought another bike that happened to have some Michelin Pro slicks on it and realized I'd been doing it wrong the whole time. I eventually got some GP4000s tires for the Bianchi and rode that a couple of hundred miles a week with no flats for a whole summer.

Well, it's the end of an era. The Bianchi is on the way to its new owner in Cali. We messaged back and forth a bit and it looks like it's going to a really good home. He also has a Colnago steel frame with Campy Ergo on it. We're friends on the FB now, so I can see how he enjoys it and cry to myself. But I really had to let that one go.
Consequently, if you are every going to ship a bike, go to bikeflights.com for significant savings. It's basically a service using FedEx, but as best as I can figure they're making some sort of cut while using a single FedEx account. The shipping place wanted about 165 bucks for FedEx or UPS, so I went back to the shop to find a smaller box and my buddy showed me the bikeflights website and it only cost 37 freaking dollars. |

Why do they make smooth mouse wheels? My mouse wheel is smooth and the oils from my fingers has made it smoother and slicker as time goes on. I now have to use considerable force (as it relates to mouse wheels) to scroll through websites. The darned thing should have been ribbed.

Anyone was willing to give the OP a shovel so he could dig a deeper hole. That thread reminded me I seriously need to go shop insurance.
For gits and shiggles I ran a quote with Progressive to match Geico's coverage and it was $160/mo. I should be thanking whats his name! I won't though... since the thread got locked. |

Is the point of rollers basically to lay down Z2 base miles?

I brought a metric tonne of used books down to Half Price Books to sell off (for $9.00) yesterday so I stopped down at a nearby LBS to look around at the 2016 specialized line. I see they are back to the flat black again this year.
I was talking to the salesguy and mentioned that if I was looking for something new it would be the 2016 Mr Pink frame, but I wouldn't buy it there since they aren't able to order in All-City from QBP anymore. He didn't believe me so we went to check it out. I was right, but while he had it up I had him look to see how many 2016 Mr Pinks in 52cm were still available (in case my wife dies and I can buy it). They're sold out. There was a couple 55s and a 58 left in the country. I think he said there was one 52 full build left in Ohio or something... |
