Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Same results here. Scaled pic to the 782 dimension and the others seemed right.

Other specs I got after scaling drawing:

Frame Stack: 669
Frame Reach: 327
Wheelbase: 1002
BB Drop: 80
Chainstays: 440

Seems ready for some serious gravel on paper, @UnfilteredDregs

OMG, forgot about rake (crucial for figuring flop). I'm getting damn near 50mm of rake.

Wow, it must be getting boring as spit outside in the greater 41, we got all sorts of unusual visitors dropping by to say hello.

Hey fellas, we're not serving any drinks until after hours when the bars close and the forum Admins are asleep.

I noticed that. Lots of really random newbies posting in threads.

Speaking of the greater 41, what the heck happened in that work stand thread? Simple question, simple answers based on personal experience, now everyone wants to kill each other. Then again, sounds like typical 41 behavior.

So...I've been fit. I have a custom geometry, that bike will be built over the Spring and hopefully I'll have it for D2R2 2016...

Nevertheless... I have not been able to translate my fit into everyday reasonable ballpark spec's that I can use to evaluate production frames in order to satisfy the various aspects of N+1...

Without further ado, here's my geo...how do I translate this into useful information?:

Has anyone else mentioned this yet? Why the hell is the top of the bars level with the saddle?

The 734mm and 401mm seem to be to scale so I assume the rest is to scale which makes that headtube about 200mm long and JoeJack puts the top tube at 523mm. If that is a correct fit (which I'd be surprised if it was) for a road bike then your going to need a serious amount of up angle on the stem.

A Trek H2 fit for example with an effective top tube of 521mm is a size 50 and that has a headtube of only 130mm so you'd need to find another 70mm (nearly 3 inches) somewhere either in the steerer tube or up angled stem or both.

Thanks for that...yup, long legs, short torso..

Yes. We love it because it is the delicious pain we deserve so much. The only reason the triathletes and TT people are on the trainer is that they haven't learned that running is even better.

I met a guy today who works for countervail. Apparently they design an elastomer that makes carbon fiber more resilient and absorb shock better. We talked bikes for a few minutes, he said Bianchi has had good results with their tech. Apparently also useful in tennis racquets. Pretty cool stuff.

Srsly.

On another note...I don't know how you folks deal with tubes. 4 flats for me in the last two weeks, all annoying pinhole punctures.

Death by 1000 ******.

I'm so going back to tubeless...

Agreed. In general such plastics additives will degrade stiffness so their use is not without issues. A common approach with such materials is to use them in combination with the stiffest types of carbon and resins which would be too brittle if used without the modifier. Often the combination of too brittle and too ductile is, on balance, more attractive than a single, in-between material by itself.

I'm sure geo is going to change relative to the contact points... It's going to be an all-road monsta bike. Definte gravel machine at its core. I'm HOOKED on that stuff.

I'm having some long discussions with Mr. Rosko, the gent building my frame:

Nah...just garden variety wee little punctures. Various locations. Rim & tire are clean... I bombed a trail today and definitely walloped the tires a few times.

After a crappy trainer ride this AM, I decided to treat myself to an easy fun ride and did some geocache hunting.

He's getting a custom frame built for a good reason. There's nothing off the shelf even close to those proportions. And not everyone is looking for a big saddle to bar drop even on the road.

The angles on the Trek 50cm are likely so far off that the fit wouldn't work out even if he could find a long enough seatpost and tall enough stem.
