60 and below down to about 20 is my favorite, actually. Mostly because the majority of riders check out at 50 or so and I get the roads all to myself. Especially great is during the holidays when people are indoors stuffing their faces and I don't see as many cars out. Crisp clear air that's all mine and no traffic? Awesome.

Haha, I won't even touch the pool until the water temp is hitting close to 90. The first year out here, I was in the pool when it was 70. My blood has thinned.

The downside of DST is we don't change, but the tv schedule does. Everything that used to come on at 9 comes on at 10. I stay up too late watching tv and then I can't get up in the morning.

Actually, that's a poor excuse. I'm not a morning person, never have been. I'd much rather sleep in until about 9am and go to bed around 2am. It's just the way my body works and I've given up on trying to change it.

Gorgeous fall ride today. Was cold the first 45 minutes but the sun warmed us up and most of the ride temps were in the 40's.

We were going to do some serious hills, but one of the riders said her knees were bothering her so we skipped a couple nasty climbs. Apparently this woman's coach ordered her to do lots of climbs at low cadence in the big ring a few days ago and now her knees are sore. Shocking, huh? I hope I did not insult her but I told her I did not agree with the coach.

Same. I have ridden as cold as 12F but I can't say it was fun. 20's are ok as long as roads are dry.

Once it's that cold you're either miserable until you warm up or miserable after you warm up. It just sucks overall.

LesterOfPuppets 11-25-15 02:58 PM

Coldest riding I've done is -5° or so. Went out on the MTB in Flagstaff, AZ. Ice actually gets a little bit sticky at that temp, but I still bit it a couple of times.

The pumpkin pie for the in-law Thanksgiving gathering = done. I'm getting to be pretty good with a rolling pin.

Aim for a medium miserable on both sides of the warm-up equation.

My wife made a pee can pie to bring to work today. I'm hoping there will be a slice for me when she comes home.

Good god, that's getting up early. We'll see how I do but I'm guessing I'll never make it.

This is the only day of the year that I get up to ride this early. I need to be on the road at 5am.

LesterOfPuppets 11-25-15 04:04 PM

I started pulling tights on for today's ride but then said screw it, I'm riding in shorts!

It's been chilly here, so I put embro on in the morning without checking the temp first. It was 65F when we rolled out and in the 70s by the end.

My legs were pretty much on fire.

I've said on many a post in this forum that I'm extremely vain. While lots of people here truly can just "enjoy the ride" and not get caught up in the little things, there are people like me that obsess over every small detail. When I'm riding the bike, no, it doesn't matter and I enjoy the ride regardless, and it doesn't even enter my mind. But when I look at the bike, which I overall really enjoy looking at it, they just stick out like a sore, infected thumb possibly needing amputation.

Interesting. I mean, I care how my bike looks (pretty much solely, now), but never thought the Q-rings looked bad.

Sorry, but that was funny.

Get your pumpkin pie quick because we had a poor harvest of pumpkins here in Illinois. Libby-Nestle only harvested 50% of normal and has shipped all of their inventory. When this runs out, there will be no more canned pumpkin until Fall of 2016.

The nations major cannery is 5 miles from me in Morton, IL.

Maybe this'll help. This was last year's pie. Turned out a little better this year, but I'm too lazy to set up another pic.

This is why I picked up a couple extra cans the other day.

I think we're gonna do Chinese restaurant Thanksgiving.

Hope they're open!

One of my favorite Thanksgivings was when we sat at home by ourselves and had a nice steak dinner.

I enjoy Thanksgiving Day food for the most part, but steak > turkey. I'd also say Chinese > turkey.

this page made me sad.

Good news: new power supply fixed my HTPC
Bad news: no excuse to build a NUC, now
