Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Unless her office only has two people working there, I wouldn't hold my breath. Haven't you ever seen folks doing a perfect imitation of locusts in the coffee/break room when a homemade sweet appears?

We have been doing fried chicken for Thanksgiving with a group of 20-30 folks for about 15 years now. We still have smoked and/or fried turkey and stuffing, cranberries and such, but the fried chicken is the reason for being there. Professionally fried, of course. What a nice change of pace. We deprive ourselves of it all year long and just have it to celebrate having made another year on Thanksgiving. The trick is to find a chicken place open on Thanksgiving. Fortunately there is a supermarket that opens for the morning in case folks have forgotten things. There is a Church's concession in the store, and it opens half day along with the store. Otherwise we would be SOL.

Actually I wasn't totally accurate. The locust act is displayed for ANYTHING that appears in the coffee room.

Plenty of apples though, so I'm good.

Damn I love peh-cahn pie. My all time favorite. Pecans are arguably the king of nuts. And Mrs. Rpen makes the best on earth...IMO. You might mistake her for a professional. But about 10 years ago or so I came down with an allergy to pecans and walnuts. Very mild, almost nothing, but still dangerous I suppose and unpleasant enough to discourage eating them on purpose. Let me tell you, hazlenut pie is good, but it just ain't the same.

There were some really good-looking Delmonicos at the farmer's market this week, so that sealed the deal. The surf part are NOT local lobster tails.

183 lb weight limit. Me + heavy steel bike + a couple of full water bottles might be bumping up against that limit.

...what the hell are wheels with a 183 pound upper weight limit good for. Except for improving the cash flow on the repair end, I mean.

Happy Thanksgiving day to all 'mercans in here. I am heading to NJ for family gatherings. There may or may not be pecan pie.

Happy turkey day everybody! Off to run, because running is awesome, then homemade cinnamon rolls, then Brazilian barbecue, then back home for mudslides and who-knows-what.

Off to put Christmas wreaths on graves and then dinner with my son's in laws. Again, may or may not be pie.

I'm already here in the valley of the sun, at the SIL's. Watching the parade right now, planning a hike in the hills shortly, then looking forward to tons of football and food later. There WILL be pies ... sweet potato, apple, and minced meat - the latter exclusively for yours truly.

As well, my birthday fell on this holiday this year, so there may be a surprise cake.
