BTW, a couple of your drawer handles are crooked.

:)

Very classy. Thanks for the tip. Let me take that up with Mrs. Rpen.

Seriously, that is a non-starter.

I am stubborn, yes, but not to the point of cutting off my nose to spite my face. I'm coming from a 42" screen. When I saw how much the 55" one could save me over the 60", the need for that big sucker just seemed to fade away. The 55" one will fit perfectly and do the job very well. No need to rig something up.

Use some maple plywood, trim edge with some 10 mil veneer, sand it and get some white stain to match cabinetry. Easy peasy :)

She'll never see the cinder blocks, so you're good there.

Heck, I could even just screw the plywood down and keep the cinder blocks for my bookshelves. ;)

Hey, I appreciate the suggestions. I am just farting around with you.

It would take a better carpenter than me to cut away the molding and retrim the opening of the shelf. When I put the TV inside the opening, the edged of the screen were obscured from any angle except directly head on.

Wonder if one of those fancy curved screens would've been an option. I have no idea of the current choices to select from and I don't want to go look at them. As soon as I look I get that "must have" feeling. The less I know about the latest and greatest tvs, the better.

A chilly morning at Lake Pleasant AZ(42F).

progress on hypnotoad:

last minute choice to change to 2.15 instead of 2.35's was a good one. these are the absolute max this frame can fit. dented the chainstays a bit for some more clearance

No ****. I would be so busy staring at the crooked stuff all over the cabinet, you could hang the TV with a coat hanger, and I wouldn't catch it. :)

Straight things are important.

I'd be worried about entertainment unit resale value with those holes in it!

That thing's gotta be 35 lbs already!

Looks great and should be super fun to romp around on, though.

No problem there. It is built in. Unless it would queer the sale of the whole house someday... Now that could be a problem.

53lbs.

Not a bad weight for the hypnotoad! Should only be a pound or so more on there upon completion.

Have a good trip!

Not this crew, but I'm sure a few Sun City Cyclists were today. It was 39 when I left the house, but it got up to 50 at noon.

Yes, it was quite chilly this morning. We southern Arizonians aren't crazy about thirty-anything. :notamused:
