But couldn't he have sent him somewhere insignificant, like Jacksonville or Tennessee or something, someplace where we'd never have to see him?

Ouch.

As a side note they have the most convoluted discount policies. If you buy x you get a discount on y, but if you buy z you can get x at a steeper discount, but lose out on the discount on y. Or you can buy x and z and get a discount on q and w...

Oh, and my wife told me after the fact that if I had mentioned my AAA card I could have saved $15. :(

Zenni optical for the win. Nothing beats $20 prescription glasses. I have 4 pair at this point.

How are you not counting Kelly's acquisition of Murray as not a major problem? He's a great player, and his crappy read option (delays the play) calls on every down prevent him from being even the smallest bit useful.

If they'd just call straight up run plays without any read option, now that Chip's fired, I would say that the iggles do have a chance on Sunday.

I dunno. Maybe I've vain but I like name brand frames. I wear them every single day of my life so I feel justified dropping some money on them.

Yeah, Kelly's system was a huge FAIL. That cutesy stuff may work at the college level, but in the pros it soon becomes clear what NFL actually means - Not For Long. NFL teams are just too good at making adjustments.

Speaking of strength workouts, these are not my thing. But they are new in my schedule, so of course I do them. Yesterday was my 3rd one. I was massively sore after the first two, for 48 hours. Today though I feel only pleasantly sore despite the fact that I was confused and mistakenly doubled my weight for all the stuff that requires weight (still not much). Sweet.

The strength thing makes riding the bike a miserable thing, at least in my case. I'll be knocking back to twice a week soon, and that will strictly be maintenance, as I think I've maxed the old body out. Keep at it, because you will see some amazing gains, no matter how bad the legs feel.

Speaking of working out; I added another machine to my Tuesday Arms/Core day routine and I'm feeling it today. Guess it worked some muscles my body forgot I had.

Places with complex discount policies are just proof that they're overcharging you. If they wanted to be upfront they would just price everything consistently and be done with it. Running some "sale" 365 days a year is dishonest.

Hell, you can't even get a price for something easily because the employees had to plug it into a calculator for a few minutes and figure it out.

Agreed. It's BS. But if that's the game, might as well play to win.

You do realize all of those "brand names" are just fronts for a single company, who makes the glasses in the same place as zenni, right? Hey, it's your money...

Its very little leg stuff. Except this weird spot on the lateral aspect of my glutes.

Mostly abdominal and core stuff. Its ok. At least I can do the workout in the house, which is way warmer than riding my bike these days. :)

While most major brands are made by Luxotica, you can still find brands that aren't. Comparing Luxotica brands, the "boutique" brands are still going to be better quality just like a Lexus is still a Toyota, but there's a reason why you pay more for one.

There is an obvious step up in looks and quality with the larger brand name frame and lens manufacturers offerings. There are times when I'll be cheap, but clothing and eyeglasses are not one of the areas I cheap out on.

Thanks. I'll add it to my resume!

jtaylor996 12-30-15 01:09 PM

I could understand paying for quality. But when one company owns the whole retail market you aren't paying for quality anymore, you're just paying for the lack of competition. The zenni stuff I've bought has been as good or better than any retail store stuff I've owned.

I just get my eyeglasses at the local independent optician. She doesn't run any complicated specials, but usually has some free frames to choose.

Good club ride. We had a lot of riders, somewhere around 16 or 17. Lots of folks off for the pre-holiday. This was almost certainly my last ride of the year. Final mileage 5435.

My friend with the new Seven showed up, his bike is gorgeous. But he had to bail after a few miles, something about needing to be home to accept delivery for a "POD" container they will be using for their move. He is moving in a few days to the SF area. So sad to see him go. He is the one who took me on the ride up Mt Diablo last year. A very good guy, and a strong rider. We are going to miss him.

Interesting! Though, the core is big on the TT bike, so that's understandable.

Cold... Radiant heater on my feet and a fan on me, while I'm on the trainer. Nonsense. It's going to be 8 degrees at the start of the New Years Day century. At least it will get up to 31, and the sun will be out.

There has been a rash of trolls recently. New members with similar M.O.s The second thread I linked to is mildly funny with its "Let's cut the cheese." Otherwise, it got old a while ago.
