Ok I do ride serious but nothing beats a good beer after a nice work out and settling in for the evening. I am wondering given the time of year what those that have taste for the suds are drinking? I suppose the serious racers are avoiding this stuff but I remember Frank Shorter marathon gold medalist enjoy a liter the night before we won. He did not want to change is normal routine.

For me the best is the Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale. For a cyclist this seems the true beer because it brings to mind those Sierra Nevada climbs in NoCal and it is one of the best beers in the hunt. Had one tonight and this years is no exception very good with malt and hops.

This is not a Holiday Beer as such but a true gem Great Lakes Commodore Perry IPA. This one makes the post ride worth all the crazy cold and crappy weather of December.

I have not tired and others so throwing this thread out to see what is good to try. For myself the idea of cycling and them making sure to enjoy the fruits of the journey with a beer is always nice.

Ice water and a Snickers beats a beer after a workout. Alcohol is nasty. Even the stuff that has a hip and sophisticated image drinkers go for because of the label design

Not a big fan of IPA's, but lots of local cycle guys drink a cold one after a long bike ride. A glass of good ale or red/brown works for me sometimes after a hot day and a 2+ hour ride. I wouldn't call alcohol nasty though LOL

I've been known to have 3-4 IPAs after rides, but only on days that end with the letter "y".

After a ride, Kronenbourg would be ideal, but they don't carry it at the local package stores. Peroni is also good, and Stella will do in a pinch. Of the more flavorful stuff, Fuller's ESB is a favorite, but I can't imagine having that, or anything too flavorful after a ride. However, I wouldn't want anything too light, either; water is much preferable to water-like beer.
Snickers? Talk about nasty....

You guys are kidding, right? I mean, I don't think I've *ever* ridden with anyone who wasn't up for a beer after a ride...excepting those stupid, crack-o'-dawn rides before work. But that's what makes them stupid, of course; no post-ride beer.

So long as it's not all malty and sweet, I'll drink it, from lagers, to sessions, to hopped-out ales and oatmeal breakfast stout. I'll even crush a couple of good gueuzes. Mostly Michigan micro is preferred, because Michigan beers are just about always in the top quality rung for any given style, and drinking locally is always cool.

****ing beer is great. Switchback from VT has been a recent fave...tonight's Rioja was quite nice as well.

Two of my favs, but almost anything will do. I don't care for the bitterness of most IPAs, though, given the right paring (food, not snickers) I will have one from time to time.

On the weekends we're done with our ride around 11am, so its a stop at Starbucks for a beverage. Later in the evening, I'm definitely up for a some suds after a good hard ride and a day of errands. If you haven't tried this one, give it shot. Delicious.

Sculpin IPA. It's a great bottle-conditioned IPA like Bridgeport might brew if they weren't afraid of flavor. There are enough hops it's obvious you're drinking an IPA (70 IBU), but they don't dominate as with many West-Coast beers.

The only way beer could make you fast would be due to the rear exhaust action. Ain't nothing prudish about refusing to drink slop. I never said I don't drink alcohol. I just prefer that it not have passed through a horse first.

To answer your question in the order asked: no, yes, no, no, no, no, nothing. Discussing a cold beverage is exactly what I'm doing. I know most folks don't agree with me. You can't imagine even one person not agreeing with you.

Simply put, I don't bore you guys with my enthusiasm for wine, knowing that not everyone shares my interest. Why do so many of you have to harp on your beer fetishes so constantly?
