Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Not sure why it was brought up then, but thank you for clearing it up.

Funny. I have a friend who just got a custom Titanium bike who said the same thing. Titanium might be out of my budget.

I had a few hrs of unexpected free time this afternoon so I brought the bike in to my local Cannondale dealer. To my surprise, they think my 12 yr old cracked dropout may be a warranty issue. Talking maybe CAAD10 or 12 replacement depending on what C'dale has available. I am still expecting a moderate discount for a frame trade in but a new CAAD12 in black or red sure would be a nice Christmas present.

Good for you man. Hope this works out in your favor. I have a 2005 CAAD7 that I love and this thread has caused me to do some very close inspections to that area because I know of another CAAD7 owner on this forum that had the same exact thing happen. He got a CAAD10 frame out of it. I'm not the first owner of my bike so if mine is cracked it's just trash and I have to buy a bew bike

My 06 aluminum Lemond came down with a cracked chain stay this summer at 35,200 miles, Trek replaced the frame with a 2015 aluminum Madone. No hassles, Still I do miss the Lemond, really liked that frame.

It took them a while to respond due to warranty department being closed over holidays. I am told the frame is black but the lbs didn't know whether graphics were also black or some combination of black and white. They said its "BBQ black". My internet searching on that scheme has me confused as to whether BBQ is a color scheme or a specific matte finish. Does anyone know?

Best guess is that its the scheme that was available on 2015 105 5 version (see pic)

I am surprised and pleased with c'dales decision to replace a 12 yr old frame. Cost will be 300.00 to LBS to swap components and for new braze on front derailleur
