Hey, I've been known to take my race bike out for a little ride while wearing street clothes and ordinary shoes - even though I only have clipless pedals - I don't need "special" platform pedals (or a "special" 40 lb. bike for that matter) just for riding around.

I did not have the right cleats for my Frogs, so I glued red gasket rubber to the bottom of my shoes, hoping it would provide enough friction to keep them in place. It didn't.
