Lol. That took a turn south. I departed after my Venn diagram and that looks like a good choice.

I should know better by now. That stuff isn't worth it.

So bored at work right now. Waiting for a certain satellite to go over Fairbanks, AK, and the project is too high priority to go off and start doing anything else right now... Also, I'm only 50/50 that this thing is going to be turned on anyways. Ugh.

What did I miss? Got a link? Was it about single bolt seat posts again? I'm pretty sure that came up somewhere today...

Edit: found it... sheesh...

Pretty much. There are certainly good, capable machines under that price point, but E61s tend to be a little better performing and more forgiving of technique (more consistent with the temp and pressure). And again, I can't overstate the repairability. I've had my machine more than 8 years and yeah, I've had to replace the pump and a couple valves... but $50-60 for readily available parts (and all of the repair documentation that you could ever need) is a heck of a lot better than scrapping and starting over.

This time it is about narcissistic posters (like physical wall posters, not us) at gyms.

I can't answer that question, but I can say that as you get closer and closer, it starts to make more sense. And when you finally do realize you are pretty well set, it all seems appropriately timed. Just my experience.

Yep. My wife and I were never what I would call frugal but we were/are conservative, small house, used cars, etc.

When we were growing up, married at 20, we didn't know what we were doing but when we came to a fork, we always took the reasoned route and not the impulsive. All of a sudden one day and after health issues, retirement was presented to me at an early age and I took it after deciding that our long term investments were finally paying off. Fast forward 11 years and we are better off than the day we retired.

We now live very comfortably and I guess it was by not living so comfortably when we were young. I never believed it would happen but it did and I for one feel blessed.

Don't ask me, I have been shaving my legs for one 30 years and every time I try to quit, the grimy feeling makes me shave again.

Personal choice, I guess, but once you start...

At my job I mostly just get people who don't know what they want getting upset with me because they don't know what they want.....

Tell me you're waiting for the satellite to line up so you can blast some poor schmuck ISIS out in the middle of Afghanistan to hell and back via giant laser beam?>

I feel like you have to define what "having it made" means. I am definitely not rich, but I feel like I have it made. Is being debt free someone's definition of having it made? Don't buy a house. Life is great. I have to pay for some very big things and discretionary spending is definitely at a minimum, but so what? I have what I need plus things I really like. The implications of debt suck, but once you have the debt I see no reason in obsessing over it. Just move forward and enjoy the now.

I'm moderate to liberal and definitely have opinions about the state of the middle class and the rich and poor gap, etc. I'm not saying I like where we are as a country, but I do think it's important to find what makes you happy in life and invest your time and interests there. We can't all control what situation life gives us, but we can control how much we obsesses over material things at the expense of the present.

My team (we're mostly perma-4s and a couple 3s, so nothing too serious) is planning on doing a team photo shoot with a photographer at some point in the next month.

The question is... do I finally cave to the gods of cycling aesthetic and shave my legs to look cool with the other guys, or do I keep it natural and just make scary race faces for the camera to offset the hair?

Cycling aesthetics seem to be a hot button here today (see the Rapha thread), so it's best to be sure BF agrees with my choice in advance.

Stand in the back row.

You're living in Denton TX how can you not have it made. Did we mention I need to probably do another year of servitude up here at a new job before I can get my weenie out of the Northprisoncampeast?

Seems like a waste of money that would be better spent on bike stuff.

I like how Kia shows off their Italian heritage in their vehicle names. If you say them with a heavy Italian accent, they all start descriptive sentences in English:

Sonata: Sonata very nice car.

Spectra: Spect repair bill.

Sedona: Sedona side a da road. Wait for a tow truck.

My Kia-built, Mazda-designed, Ford ran great.

Yeah, but, espresso... so, so, good. Latte access at not $4.50 a go? Guhh. I mean. Amortization of cost over 1000's of beautiful tiny little drinks that contain all of god's grace within?

I thought that bespoke coffee was "bike stuff"? Next you're going to tell me that beard magnificence isn't directly proportional to woodworking prowess.

I now make money every time I pull a shot at home and I'm not even over 50 yet.

Get a bandolier print jersey and Chewbacca it up.

I work with people that live like paupers, know to the minute when they can retire and it won't cost them money. They were/are frugal, typical state type attitude, and were saving for a day that never came. Of the 7 that I personally knew that retired, three were dead within 9 months.

We drive Rangers, we live in a modest house, and we save some dollars. I also ride and race carbon bikes with electric bits, and carbon wheels. Life is too short not to.

I wish. No, I was mostly ODing on solitare like kevin from the office when I was typing that... and now I can't figure out why y'all think it was so cool.

This is a NASA bird that usually isn't transmitting all the time. But over Fairbanks it was (I'll be damned). The only thing it's transmitting is lowish resolution ozone data.

Most of my day so far has been manually editing SQL files for a configuration database. That was the exiting part.

INSERT INTO D****Sensor VALUES
( 836, 23, 1 ),
( 837, 23, 20 ),
( 838, 23, 148 ),
( 839, 23, 149 ),
( 840, 23, 150 ),
( 841, 23, 202 ),
( 842, 23, 203 ),
( 843, 23, 204 ),
( 844, 23, 206 );

INSERT INTO D****Parameter VALUES
(1264, 23, 47, 'aura.xml', 1, 0 ),
(1265, 23, 65, 'X,tcp://localhost:4935', 1, 0 ),
(1266, 23, 66, 'X', 0, 1 ),
(1267, 23, 162, 'autofile://AURA', 1, 0 ),
(1268, 23, 163, '1', 0, 1 ),
(1269, 23, 166, 'autofile://AURA', 1, 0 ),
(1270, 23, 167, '1', 0, 1 );

Trust me, that's boring whether you're doing it for business or satellites.

See, I did this to myself, however. My driver architecture means rather than code, a lot of this stuff is just now database entries that run through automated code generators. Because, I apparently thought at some point 10 years ago that writing database entries would be less boring that writing actual code. :twitchy:

I mean, it's less boring that debugging broken code because you wrote it by hand (which guarantees it has bugs), but still... :crash:
