Saddle recommendations in 135mm-140mm.
Hello, I was wondering if anyone knows of any confortable and lightweight saddles in the 135mm to max 140mm range?
I have tried a number of saddles the past few weeks on my new road bike, and am a little confused.
When I measure my sitbones, they seem to be about 108mm apart, so I would need a saddle aproximately 130mm in width.
- I tried a WTB Team Rocket V saddle that was 130mm: Sitbones did not rest on the saddle, too narrow and not comfortable, so I seemingly need a wider saddle.
- I tried a Selle San Marco Era that was 158mm wide: Way too wide, caused chafing on the lower part of my butt after long rides.
- I tried a Fizik Antares VSX that was 142 mm wide: Still too wide, comfortable at first, but caused chafing on a 3-hour ride.
- I have a Selle Italia Qbik that is 140 mm wide on my commuter bike, and this seems to be about the right width, maybe a bit too wide. I'm looking for something a bit lighter and durable for my road bike (not too impressed with the quality of the fabric).
So: is it possible that the Fizik Antares of 142mm wide caused chafing, while the Selle Italia Qbik that is about the same width does not? Could it be just the different shape of the saddle?
Does anyone have recommendations for good and lightweight saddles in the 135-140mm wide range? Anyone have experience with the Selle Italia C2? (which measures 136mm)
Thanks!

Fizik Arione or the Fizion Versus Arione is a flatter saddle. The difference is that the Versus has a recessed channel. You could also go with a Specialized Toupe 130 or 143 which is a flat saddle and has a cut out channel. I confess, I'm obsessed with saddles and I'm still searching for "the one".

I have the Arione. Weighs in at 163g. It's fairly comfy because of the side wings that flex. I don't understand how this is a race oriented saddle and yet be so comfortable with not much padding.
You will likely benefit from the Arione with the channel in the middle. I believe that's the Arione VS.

I have had really good luck with the Specialized Phenom 143, both newer and older but more the older. Can still be found on eBay - in fact the last 3 I have purchased have been from eBay and in like new condition for under $50.
