Brake hoods that just don't fit.
I seem to be having a heck of a time getting good replacement hoods for my 6700 shifters. I tried Hudz because they were cheap and I like having blue hoods to match my bike. They were sort of ok but the fit was sloppy. They shifted sideways a tad and were not flush with the side edges. So now I tried Near and Far. A lot more expensive ($25) and they seem a wee bit too small. They don't sit flush at the top mainly on the left side. Any suggestions? I tried a hairdryer to try to expand the top a bit.

Yep all the tabs fit in the holes the problem ends up being on the edges.

I have Hudz on 6700 levers and they are okay but never were as good a fit as the original Shimano hood covers. I think it's just a matter of living with it being not perfect if you want to have different color hoods. They are just so inexpensive.

The hood maker is claiming that you shouldn't install the hoods from the front without taking off the lever. That you should take the lever off and install them from the back or they will end up getting permanently distorted by the stretching needed to put it on from the front. I thought that was what most people did.

This GCN Video is full of great tips and techniques for Hood Replacement, it even shows Hudz brand.
The bit about alcohol hand cleaner to lubricate the hoods works great, I tried it with great results.

That is exactly what I did and Far and Near is claiming that that is the wrong way to do it that you will likely permanently deform the hoods doing so.
