Specialized saddles: Titanium vs. Carbon rails
The weight difference is obvious but am wondering if there's a noticeable difference in ride quality. With Selle SMP carbon rails makes the ride a LOT smoother. Is the same true with Specialized rails?

Theoretically carbon dampens vibration more than titanium. But to achieve the same amount of strength, is the carbon thicker? I don't know -- I don't have a carbon-rail saddle, and doubt I ever will -- I just don't like the idea of it. I have a titanium-railed and an alloy-railed saddle...and I can't tell the difference.

No difference in feel, Fizik and Specialized. Carbon rails get you weight savings and saddle clamp incompatibility.

The seat rail is the worst application and most illogical of carbon on the whole bike.
Its all in your head the ride was better. Are you prepared to deal with precise torquing? Or the fact the seat will need to be readjusted quite often? When you hear that crack and you flushed say $200 bucks down the toilet how will you feel?

No clue...it's the Specialized Romin Evo Comp...I'm sure it's quality, and they know more about rail construction/strength than you or me. I bet the rails are stronger on that than my Expert which is titanium.

I have a Specialized saddle with carbon rails. I guess it depends on the weight you put on the seat and how you ride in general as to how well they will last. I didn't notice any difference coming from a Ti rail saddle.
