Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

"The Bianchi Code"

I recently got a new Bianchi 928 carbon, but noticed there were smaller numbers in front of the 928. It comes out to be 49 52 98. Was just curious if anybody knew what these meant? I'm guessing something to do with the different types of carbon used to make the frame.

The bianchi code : I shall not cause personal harm to any Bianchi or the personal contents thereof, nor through inaction let that Bianchi or the personal contents thereof come to harm.

This is the code that the US. government can trace you by. Under the Patriot Act, you are considered a terrorist threat because you ride a bike, a most unAmerican activity. Why aren't you driving places?

Hard to compete with some of the great answers above...good stuff.
One suggestion is send an e-mail to Bianchi and ask the significance of your serial number for your carbon Bianchi...quite a bike.

That could explain the 928 number then. They used the last number of each of the 3 incredible years: 9-2-8.

Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding.

That's exactly what it is.

The code for the whole range can be broken here. Just don't tell anyone. The men with the Celeste skin suits will be after you.

Thanks fore0121 and zippyh

Glad you could clear that up for me. I'll keep it our little secret!

Anybody have any suggestions how to add some celeste to it? I've tried, but's it really tacky looking mixed with all the gold. (Bart tape, bottle cages, saddle, tires)

I suggest you have a baby girl, name her Celeste (i.e. Heavenly), and ride her behind you in a toddler trailer. Done and done.

They have a right to be proud. But what about whoever made the bikes that were ridden to all three, the Giro, Tour and Worlds? We know Eddy must have been riding a De Rosa, right? But what about Stephen Roche?

10 years to solve the same mystery again. Looks like it was already solved in 2005.
