Breezer Venturi Headset Question

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Breezer Venturi Headset Question

Hi,
I picked up one of the Venturi frames from Bikewagon. I had a quick question on the headset installation. For the lower race, it appears just the bearing goes in there. It looked like the rubber seal was for the upper assembly. Is that correct? So, lower race just has bearing and upper race has bearing, rubber seal, a metal washer, a split ring, and the upper seal assembly (not listed in order of assembly). Thanks!

Yeah, basically that's the how a drop-in/integrated headset works. Two bits on the bottom (bearing and crown race) the rest is on the top.

Thanks...I had took a look at the FSA website as well. It just seems odd there is not seal on the lower assembly.

Hi,

Had the same question for the Venturi . I posted a thread to the mechanics forum including pictures. Sorry, I can't dig it up, but search functions don't work on my iPad!

Here is the assembly configuration I used. It seems to have worked well. At the time there was a reason that I temporarily placed the cardboard tube on there, but now I can't remember why.

Here it is. https://www.bikeforums.net/bicycle-me...bbles-bit.html

There is a picture in my earlier posts. I believe it matches the one on the path posted.

Your cartridges look different to mine.

Maybe you solved the problem why my build's weight is so different to others like chaadster It seems that the frame sets do have some differences. Your cartridges are silver and mine very slim black ones.

the micro spacer above the bearing cover in that pic usually goes under the cover to adjust for tolerances. If its not needed then leave it off completely

Also my steerer tube is a completely different color than yours. Mine is silver and yours is almost brown/black.

That is what mine looked like as well. I did place the thin washer under the top cap/bearing cover thingy.

I think that's where mine ended up too. When viewing my assembled bike I don't see that thin washer under the largest white spacer.
