Fair warning: Try to visit before June 21st or so as prices explode after the schools are out, not to mention the crowds grow exponentially.

We visited SD in 2000 and had a good time. We used Deadwood as our base and from there we visited Mt. Rushmore, the Badlands, Devil's Tower, Custer National Park, Spearfish Canyon, Lead, and a few other touristy places. We had a good time. Worth about 3-4 days at least.

It's made by a company called Framed. From what I could find, it's this one, the BD, and 20% off the REI Diamond Back in the low end.

http://images.the-house.com/framed-m...ed-15-zoom.jpg I don't know a thing about it other than it's a 1x9, it's named after my state (Minnesota 1.0) and it's $599. If I were tempted to do a fatty, that'd be one I'd look in to a little more. |

More accurately, it's sold by Framed. All three bikes might very well be made by the same folks.

I see that some of their bikes, including some more expensive fatties (Alaska AL and CF), are built in the USA. I also see a built in the USA CF gravel bike coming soon... :innocent:

Bought a new one the next morning but it wasn't charged when I rode up Spearfish Canyon. Was also in Wind Cave N.P. and Custer S.P. Rode Needles Highway and nearly all of the Mickelson Trail. |
Morning has broken. The coffee is drunk(can't walk in a straight line), breakfast eaten. As soon as I'm off the throne I'm heading out for my annual GHD ride.

Of course, now this has me wondering about the difference between "built in the USA" and "made in the USA."

We took the Airstream on a similar trip but based out of Custer National Park. It was awesome. We were just talking about possibly going back this summer. It's an easy tow. But we should go someplace new.

Last night, my boy comes out of the bathroom with a sheepish grin and kicking his feet happily. When I gave him a questioning look, he dances over to me and whispers in my ear, "they were right!"
"Huh? Who?" and then it dawned on me. "Red?" I asked. "Yeah!" he laughs, "it was SO bright!" When he was in the dumps with strep the other day, the doctor warned me that the antibiotics might make his poop look really red and that he didn't want us to worry that it was blood. I told the boy about the possible color change because color-changing poop seems like it would be the kind of thing that might cheer up a 5-yo boy. Both the doctor and I were right. |

I seriously considered getting a new CX/gravel bike to replace the Fuji this year. Narrowed it down to two bikes.

Honestly, I've had so much fun on my Haanjo that I kind of want to my make a gravel bike the "better" of my bikes. I'd almost say that I could get by without a skinny tire roadie all together, but I do like the idea of having something a little lighter around and being able to keep it inside for the trainer in the winters. At the same time, I'd also like to be able to swap wheelsets between the bikes, which would mean discs all around. :foo: |
