Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

weak,

Sounds like you are having trouble finding a test ride.

FWIW and at the risk sounding like an evangelist for the Massive Corporate Machine known as ABG , www.preownedbikes.com has a 5 day test ride period they allow you after you purchase the bike for a complete refund. I couldn't get a test ride on a Ti bike either and this factored into my decision.

I saw a Moots road bike at a lbs yesterday, which should be strange b/c a friend who works @ moots said they do custom frames only. It was a large frame, but just looked elegant, wasn't even all built up. I guess he bought it at moots andthey are building it. People love em. I have seen many around town that are old. or maybe they aren't old people just like em so much they get used a lot.
Zinn himself makes custom ti frames too. He is a major scientist. He's at

talk about an innovator.

moots isn't custom, they now have a program where you can pay 300$ extra for custom, but moots by default isn't custom

I am looking at a Merlin Cyrene. It rides great, but it is a little pricey.

I'm not sure if you're thinking about the right bicycle--perhaps you're confusing the Teramo with the Firenze which has round straight guage Ti. As an owner of a 2004 Teramo, I can tell you it has the fancy GET(shaped) tubing found on more expensive Litespeeds.

I rode the Merlin Cyrene. I loved it. I didnt know the Merlin had a "fuddy-duddy" characteristic. The bike itself was light fast and nimble with that Ti buzz when you really get her going. I am surprised that Merlin is not mentioned very much here. Is it becease most people cant afford them and thus think that its un-attianability makes it "fuddy-duddy"?
