Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Is my performance good?

I started road biking and in 6 months of structured training I achieved an average of 40 kmph for a 13km TT. With a normal helmet, skin suit and road bike with aerobars. Is my progress good or bad? Respond ASAP. I am 16 years old

How many watts?

Since it was only a 20 minute ride, that would be close to your FTP.

Sounds like you got the cheapest, best, bang for your buck training. Should be bomb proof.

Serious answer: If you can get to 40 km in an hour that's not bad.

I think 40 kmph (or 24.9 mph) is good for a short TT. Even better if it was hilly. Is it Pro, Cat 1, 2 or 3 level, no. Was it a race? If so, then what place did you get? Also try posting in "The 33" Road Bike Racing forum. They can better help you to improve (training, equipment, clothing, etc).

Makes me think of this. Because it's ALL about performance.

Vikram I'd be pretty happy with 40kph for 20 minutes but I'm an old guy who doesn't train or enter time trials. Perhaps you should supply a context.

Joking aside, I agree the time he posted is not bad.

I would probably be more like 35kph for 20 minutes but I don't race. I am a SERIOUS rider, though.

Are you using a SKINSUIT and AEROBARS? Those will give you at least 8 kph AVERAGE.
