What would be a good carbon bike to try for someone who rides steel?

I just want to give up some kudos to JimFromBoston for his quoting abilities; he quotes so much, including re-quoting himself, I can't even follow the dialogue. That's impressive, like one of those psycho-thriller dramas where you don't know if it's happening now or in the past in someone's imagination.
Reminds me of some bad code I've worked on.

After this thread, I kind of lost interest, but for some reason last night I was comparing the Domane frame geometry to that of my custom steel frame.
Pretty much every relevant measurement is the same (for the 54) within a few millimeters.
I think I will try to rent one with a similar component group and do a comparison. This should be as close to a controlled experiment as any. (Unfortunately it could cost me $6K if it goes well.)

If you do an extensive test ride on a Domane, I will be very interested to hear your thoughts.
