Also True. I have ridden them, but never longer than 2 hours. I can definitely see how spreading the weight out on your foot makes the Keos a more comfortable all-day pedal.

Look or Shimano road.
I haven't tried the new Looks but have a pair of Speedplay Zeros. You can lock them down for zero float, something that you can achieve by buying black Look cleats. My only problem with speedplay is that they get uncomfortable over long rides and outweighs all their advantages although I think it is a easy to uncleat out of a look system. 40 bucks vs 12 for cleats is also a lot. Some say to get a carbon shoe... I just ordered my first pair of carbon soled shoes ever as Nashbar had something on sale.
I heard good things about Time as well but I can only afford so many pedals, cleats and Shoes

I started riding clipless with Speedplays and had terrible hot spots. After suffering with it a few months hoping my feet would HTFU, I switched to KEOs and that helped a lot. I rode those for quite a while until the new Shimano pedals were introduced with the even wider platform and I switched to them. Ive been 100% happy with them.

I've used Look pedals for years...but I've grown tired of clop-cloping around when I have to walk, slipping on stairs, tripping, etc. I've been considering Speedplays (or something like them) for the simple reason that I could walk more normally, safely, comfortably, confidently in them...

The X-1's Ti pedals have shorter spindles for more ground clearance and less Q-factor.
The X-2's are the best Speedplay pedal for the money.

No...not since they converted to spring centered float. Early 90's versions I enjoyed.

I've been very happy with my Time RSX Ti's. Just ordered a bike with another set. I liked the dual entry concept of the Speedplays but found the broad float to be disconcerting. I also found unclipping to be more difficult but probably could get used to it.
I like the spring centered float of the RSX'. I never used the Speedplays long enough to deal with the hot spot issue but you do not have that issue with the RSX.. You can walk on the Time cleats. Only problem with the Times are that the cleats are expensive compared to Keo cleats. Still given combined weight of cleat and pedal, minimum stack height, and controlled float the Times are great,

Anyone try the Cranck Brother Quatro? The cleats are super tiny. Not sure about feel and such.

As for the decision, a lot of people will tell you that Speedplays are better for your knees, and for some people they are, but float is not the be all and end all. I switched to Speedplays from Look Keos after my two reconstructive knee surgeries for a broken tibial plateau because the float was going to be better for me. The float was too weird, and my knee actually felt worse, not better, it was not totally subjective for me, the knee actually hurt worse. Went back to my Looks and never looked back. Just one man's opinion. Neither cleat wears all that well, and the Looks were a little less susceptible to getting mud and dirt in them.

New rule: you aren't allowed to say "Speedplay" without also specifying the model. Frogs are mtb and can have the cleat recessed. X-series have fixed fload. Zeros have adjustable float down to, well, zero. The zeros also have a different cleat design that is not as easy to foul with mud as the X-series. Light actions are similar to X-series in that they have fixed float, but the cleat design is more like zero, and they are easier to get in and out of. So there is no such thing as "the speedplay pedal", and there aren't really any blanket statements that you can make...

I have the light action speedplays and I love 'em. I moved from spd and didnt like the whole locking mechanism thing. As for the feeling of too much float, It takes a couple of rides to get use to. I like the fact that I can wear my street shoes (non training day) and take short trips to the store. I couldnt achieve this with spds, which were uncomfortable with my flip flops.

i'm looking to buy some clipless in a couple of days and the zero Ti have caught my attention.
what are these HOT spots that is being spoken here?
regardless of the less weight, more money, getting used to (everything takes getting used to) and walkability, nothing is more important than your knees.
i don't have any knee issues and want to keep it that way.
