Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Alloy seatpost/Titanium frame - greasing OK?

i suppose it is, but what happens if I switch to a carbon post at a later date? Just use carbon paste?

Does the frame have a sleeve or liner in the seattube? Some do and some don't.

You definitely want to use grease, unless you want a stick seatpost.

If you change to a CF seatpost wipe out the grease and put in CF assembly paste

Go ahead and grease with the understanding that the seat post may want to slip. If that happens then add some carbon paste. You can always swab the goop out if you switch to carbon with a paper towel wet with household cleaner or Windex. So nothing is irreversible.

I used assembly paste back when I had an alloy post, and use the same with current CF post (Park SAC-2). Isn't this stuff basically a grease-type base with tiny bits added for gription?

I am pretty sure it is not a grease as that is sometimes harmful to carbon. I appears to me to be a aqueous gel.
