Thanks for proving my point.
I won't provide my resume. Suffice to say it's enough to comment on most road bike subjects
If you do not like what I said, move along.
Thanks for playing.
It's funny...every time I wander back here I find not much has changed. It's my once a month reminder.

To tell you the truth I have no idea how often a helmet should be replaced. Certainly after a helmet/head vs. hard object impact, but under normal conditions...who knows. My rule of thumb is to replace it when I can no longer stand the smell coming from it (and yes, I do wash it fairly regularly), which is about 2-3 years for me.
I also look at it this way: it's entirely possible my helmet will function properly for the next 20 years, or it may only last two. I have no idea; I'm not a scientist, doctor, EMT, deity, etc. I do know that my current helmet (POC Octal MIPS) cost $265 and if I keep it for three years it's cost me $88/year. It might be overkill to replace it that often but I figure it can't hurt and for $88 per year it seems like a reasonable investment. Even if it only protects me 1% more I guess I'm willing to pay the cost. In other words if $88 improves my odds of going home vs. an ER visit - even if it's a 1% increase in the odds - I'm willing to pay it.
I can't speak for anyone else, that's just me.
