Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

How to get a unwanted drafter off your back tire?

The other day I was biking on a path and out of nowhere I hear a loud clanking sound. I look behind me and this ******bag is literally inches from my back tire and his bike was making a loud clanking sound. I tried to speed up but this guy stayed on me for a good couple of miles. Whats weird is his bike looked and sounded like **** so I'm wondering how he stayed on me for so long, I'm suspecting it was an e bike. I kept looking behind me to be like "hey ******bag get off my wheel" but he stayed on. I was afraid if i brakes he would smash into my back tire. There was literally nothing I could do to get him off me. I was ****ing pissed. Eventually he backed off but not before he was on me for a couple of miles.

How do i get ******bags off my back tire if this happens again?

Slow down and force him to pass, or dial it up to 400W and give him the look as you drope the hamer and drop him like a rock...

Or, you could just tell him you are not comfortable having someone on your wheel and please drop back or pass.

I usually stop and pull the plastic bag out of my wheel.

Hope that helps.

Isn't the logical answer just to slow down and pull off?

Could you not dial it up to 400 watts?

Ride on the trainer in your house. Nobody will ride on your wheel there.

Pull over to the side of the road. Stop. Let them pass. Done.

I have a decent bike, I am guessing he had an e bike. I usually bike about 17 to 18 mph but I'm just starting out.

Again I was afraid if I slow down he would smash into me, he was that close.

Realize that if he runs into your back wheel, HE is going down and you are unlikely to. That should be a little reassuring.

Prolly was an E-bike. I agree with the slow down advice above, just keep going slower and slower..

Hilarious that chump needed an E-bike to go 17-18 mph. Even more hilarious, that chump needed to wheelsuck on an E-Bike to go 17-18 mph. Keep riding, and don't get angry at someone who need E-Bikes and to wheelsuck to keep up with you.

The real George Patton would not be asking what to do;
He would be ordering the stranger to back off.

Somehow I can't imagine the real George Patton "biking".

Now that I think of it, did triathalons even exist that long ago?

I would have just s l o w l y moved the side. When I mean slow, I mean do it in a quarter miles length if I had to.

If your bike is a decent bike, the e-bike is just probably trying to court your bike. You know, start a nice little hybrid family. It's hard to find decent bikes nowadays. Most of them are thugs and whatnot.
