Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Is racing hard?

I suspect most of our spouses would say we're all on the 3 minute team.

Avg speed

Just upped my PR for Average Speed to 16.4. Same 31 mile route, city, bike trail, dirt climb, some rolling dirt, stoplights. Would have estimated much faster. Garmin keeps me honest.

The point Han Solo is making is that his nav computer is particularly powerful and can determine a more efficient, shorter route than less powerful computers by skirting closer to a black hole. He's not saying that his ship has a higher velocity. C'mon fellas, everyone knows this.

Should I get a power meter or a smart trainer?

Haha, if nothing else, the forum is wonderfully effective at perpetuating the stereotype of roadies as rude and snarky, oblivious to the outside world

With the onset of my second concussion in 5 years, my Bp has dropped from 115/70, back to my more youthful 100/60. That's a relief. Is it the new average?

Well, to be even more nit-picky, the point Solo makes is that he is the pilot most capable of physically piloting his computer's theoretical shorter route. He didn't just plug in a route and let the Falcon fly itself, he was at the helm for something like 20+ hours steering the ship.

You should probably start a new thread if you want real answers.

For short, an all-out Max effort can't be held for more than 5-10 seconds, so you can do intervals of that, which is helpful in certain areas...or you can do 5, 10, 20 minute intervals at say, 8/10 effort, or even 9/10 for a few minutes...

I like a simple 30sec. Sprint, 30 second recovery. But I know I'm not going Max power for 30 seconds, even if I'm going "all-out", because I fade even as the 30 seconds progresses.

Currently typing 50 wpm.

Sometimes I walk on my treadmill while watching TV at 4.5 mph.

Usually drive 10 km/h over the posted speed limit when traffic is clear. I'm told cops bother stopping you at that speed.
Wish I could 8:30mpm, would make half and marathons a lot faster.

Zero to full ****** in around 7.2 posts. Depending on the first post, obviously. If it's the right thread, full ****** can be reached in the first post.
