Tonight I broke a chain instead of crashing. I feel like I have let myself down.

The lesson here seems to be that beyond all the hype, CF frames fail more frequently than any other kind, no matter what the source--but not with the kind of life-threatening "asplosions" people used to speak of. I have seen and heard about frames from all different makers, from the largest and richest to the boutique to the cheap Chinese, failing from collision and sometimes from general usage.
Please update your information. It'sd 20 years old.

Sorry for the OT humor, @67stang. So are you getting a replacement from DengFu? For what its worth, I think any frame made out of any material can and do fail. Its really up to the workmanship. From my experience, I have seen two steel frames fail for me in the past (dropout came apart from the chainstaly on a Guerciotti and broke the seat tube near the BB on a Lemond 853). I currently have two CF frames (one 10 years old and other up to 14 years old) and have no issues with them yet.

The key (in my ignorant and wholly invented opinion) is more motion (not necessarily Exercise, like weightlifting, but just Motion,,, stretching and calisthenics which just move the muscles and joints without much load.) She also does some qigong, which ( i think) among other things, keeps the body turned "On"in growth and activity mode, where I sit at a desk all day and my body turns off, as in "Might as well start decaying, he doesn't use it anyway" mode.
My wife does five or ten minutes of stretching every morning and she has retained the flexibility of a teenager. Meanwhile I cycle ... and have the overall health of the teen who lives in the basement eating chips and playing video games.
I have every opportunity to retain or regain youthful vigor .... but it takes work to be youthful when old, and I am lazy.
Anyway ... really glad to hear that you were hurt but not injured.

I didn't want to make a lot out of this, but I know what you mean. I can remember when my body went through that change .... where I went from being resilient to being fragile. I can recommend yoga and qigong ... I recommend to myself that I start doing them again all the time.

I don't know ... If I were still able to run, I would probably do it from time to time. I used to enjoy it and do it well ... about 100 pounds ago.

How much seatpost did you have in the frame? I'd be tempted to put as much post in the frame as possible and have seen Chinese carbon seatposts as long as 530mm. It probably was caused by over-tightening the the clamp though, right? They should sell compression plugs tube inserts that you can smear glue on and position inside the tube for reinforcement. I tend to believe carbon composites aren't suitable for consumer bikes yet but I appreciate your contribution to materials research and development for the rest of us.

Seize control.
Unless you keep posting regular updates, naturally people will come here looking for them, and once here, will ruminate on whatever .... it is up you to "take the lane" in your own thread.
As it happens, I have been adding up my spare parts and have determined that I can almost justify buying Two more Chinabomb frames ... I almost have enough parts to build out two frames. So, if you determine definitively that such frames are health hazards, you will be crushing my dreams and ruining my personal economy.
naturally I have to try to distract you.
