Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

And that was in Bergen County Court on a misdemeanor, so it really afforded me no absolution.

I am going to check the evening news tonight to see if there are any stories about a mass shooting in the Chester, NY area today.

According to the weather report we are supposed to be getting a "wintery mix" (i.e. sleet with a little snow mixed in) tomorrow.

It was 84A on Tuesday. I had to break out the ugly coat last night to walk the dogs.

Sigh.

Edit: It feels wrong to have a comment stuck in the middle of a pcad rambling. Like a hiccup.

We never did my brother. Just a little vision and faith in Pcad Cycling Zen, all these other hosers can blow me. And you. Us. You get my drift.

I use my 46T so much, that I've decided to get a left shifter, 11-42, a front derailleur, new crank and officially give up on 1x.

I rode my 3x8 today, much more sensible.

Well, @datlas, I guess the nuc stress test was indeed necessary. Came back abnormal, and now I need to go get a heart cath. Ugh. I'm way too young (37) for this crap.

But man do I have great excuses for being slow on a bike.

The stadium is in Pontiac 40 miles away. Apparently the Lions were the only ones imploding on that day. Faulty primacord was blamed for the stadium. It has since been rectified.

Well it was unseemly while you were calling him out for doing the same thing, despite his higher credentials.

And my GX460 isn't faster, but it fits bikes much better.

It's always gratifying to see the example you have worked so hard to set lighting the way for the next generation.

Fits bikes? Hell, Senior started OC Choppers in a Lexus GX. That wasn't the company car back in the Day, that was the shop.

I hope it's a false positive, but clearly you must take the next step. Ask them if they can do the cath through your wrist rather than your groin. Good luck!

That would be nice, but I doubt it based on what they're already seeing. Thanks, I'll ask about the wrist.

Well, I was going to go on a ride tonight, but I honestly hadn't been paying attention to the weather. For whatever reason, the temperature is only going down today and the wind chill will be below zero by the time I can get on a bike.

I wouldn't be that worried, except I realized that I don't have a proper pair of cycling tights. I used to, but couldn't find them while at home on my lunch break. I've got a solid jacket, gloves, etc. Just nothing to put over my legs other than knee warmers. Those are really a 35-55 degree sort of thing for me.

That's why I like the indoor training. Sure riding outdoors is funner when the weather is nice but indoors is just so much more consistent and reliable this time of the year.

I had my aortic valve replaced with a mechanical valve at age 25. As a survivor of three cardiac caths (ages 6, 12 and 25), definitely ask about the wrist option. Don't believe that existed back in '90 when I had my last one.
