Tights/jacket repair
Hi Guys,
Went rubber side up yesterday
but both I and the bike are ok, maybe a little dinged up but otherwise fine. My castelli tights and Gabba jacket on the other hand are ripped with holes that stretch to the size of about a quarter while I'm wearing them. Any advice for patching these garments up?
Thanks!

Glad you are OK Wspsux.
McNetts will have everything you need to patch and repair the Windstop X-Lite fabric on the Gabba including GoreTex patches. They also sell a myriad of other tapes, patches, adhesives and seam sealers for all kinds of gear. Castelli offers crash replacement. I know little about how it works. -Tim-

Definitely take them to a seamstress that has worked with 4-way stretch fabric and has a surger sewing machine for the lycra. I had some bibshorts repaired earlier this year for $25 and they are 100% useable.
I had a couple of smaller quarter size holes like you mention and the seamstress just sewed them up without adding new material - the stretch of the fabric worked to fix any fit issue. For the larger holes she got a piece of used lycra and sewed it from the underside. If you're near a thrift store you might be able to find some cheap simliar material and bring it to the seamstress.

TimothyH has some excellent suggestions, I am going to check this out.
My wife has stitched my tights and some shorts that had gotten ventilation from unplanned asphalt samples. But, my shorts and tights are all black, so the repairs aren't highly visible. No guarantees about patterns of colors in the material and the appearance.
