Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Help with frame specs

Hi,
I have a Leader 736r frame and was trying to figure out If I will need a clamp front derailleur. I am thinking about upgrading the drivetrain to the new Shimano 11 speed 105 group set. If anyone could help me with some more details I'd appreciate it.

I don't understand. You say that you have the frame. That means that you can simply look at it to be able to tell if you need a clamp on or a braze on style derailleur.

If you have a braze-on ... it will be a small rectangular plate with an oval slotted hole just about where the derailleur band would go. If not, you need a derailleur with a band.

Post a pick of the BB/down tube/ seat tube juncture from the right side and for $5 I will PM you the right answer.

I'll do it for $2 and fully-stamped Subway card.

Yeah ... it sucks that you don't have the internet where you are posting from.

"Seat tube is sexy semi aero made to accommodate a 31.8mm clamp on front derailleur."
Leader Bike LD-736R Frames Reviews - RoadbikeReview.com

I was searching for goggles and I accidentally hit two "O"s .... what a mistake.

No charge .... This time.

Buy a braze on derailleur and buy a separate derailleur clamp - they're cheap.

Thanks! I just ended up doing that. I'm pretty excited for the upgrade.

Bikes: 1990 Romic Reynolds 531 custom build, Merlin Works CR Ti custom build, super light Workswell 066 custom build

That is the best plan in any case. The braze-on derailleur wit or without the band clamp is by far the superior setup.
