It's a 2015 model in XL and the guy isn't entirely sure about the particulars of it when asked. He says he paid $1100. When you buy a bike like this you know it's specifics. I asked him what the fork was made out of and he wasn't sure. He didn't know about the vibration control aspect of the fork either. One knows these things if they buy this bike new. Look at the lousy pictures. Just enough to show he has something for sale, but not enough to be able to personally I.D. it without an in-person look.

Bottom line: has anyone locally lost one of these?

It's set up pretty aggressively so my guess is it was owned by a "serious" cyclist and maybe NOT owned by the guy selling it.

That does not mean it was stolen, but it's possible based on what you are saying.

Hi, speaking with the guy one could tell that something was amiss. Especially the part of "I'll deliver it to you" and "the bike isn't at my place, it's in another part of town". When all flags are added up, I'd say it was a smoker. In any case, the ad is down now.
