Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

groupset upgrade

I'm riding my bike for over a year now. My first bike was Fuji Transonic 2.9 with 105 5800 groupset with FSA Gossamer 50/34T crankset. I recently bought a used aluminum Cannondale with a 9 speed Dura Ace 7700 groupset (Ultegra crankset) with a broken right shifter. I was planning to buy a mini Ultegra R8000 groupset (shifters, front and rear derailleur, cassette, chain) to upgrade my Fuji and transfer its groupset to my Cannondale. There's a 105 R7000 with the same mini groupset components that is $150 cheaper, is it worth it to go with the Ultegra? or just buy a pair of Sora R3000 for my Cannondale? Any option suggestions will be highly appreciated.

Thanks

DA 7700 works very well. If your groupset is in good condition apart from the broken shifter I would look for a secondhand replacement.

I try to look for a decent used DA 7700 right shifter and it cost $100. Another option I'm looking is the a used Ultegra 6510, a pair cost around $150. I was thinking about the Sora R3000, a brand new pair will cost me $145 with shifter and brake cables. Anybody knows if the Sora R3000 will work with no issues with the DA 7700 groupset?
