Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Canyons do seem to run large. I bought an XL Grail - thinking it'd be close to a 58cm. I've been sized a few times by pro fitters - 60/61 is the recommended frame size. Recently, I've moved to a 58cm road bike with a 120mm stem - and loving it. So, when the XL Grail turned out feel half way between my 58s and 61, it surprising, but still close enough to work.

Sorry for the non working link. It's fixed now. and yes the sizing is different on Canyon. I always take a large frame but Canyon's sizing chart put in in a Medium. As I explained in the thread after calling Canyon I decided to go with the Medium. My wife is always a Medium and came out an XS,. Both fit us like gloves. So while the sizing chart may seem off it's really spot on. Give them a call to verify before ordering and remember you can sent it back if within 30 days no charge.
