Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

From what I could find, those wheels are 17mm internal width, You might see some benefit with a wider 21mm-23mm hoop, but I doubt it would be very noticable.

Thank you for taking the time to look into that! I'm running Vittoria Rubino Pro G+ Isotech graphene 700x28 tires.
Not seeing any reason to modify anything on this bike except for just personalizing it, but I like her just the way she is right now.

From the photo, it doesn't look like there's much room around the tire. What are the tires inflated to, and your weight?

May be the angle. I'm 185lbs and they are inflated to 100psi.

100psi is pretty high. I'd try around 80psi at your weight

I feel like 100 reduces rolling resistance...I need all the help I can get lol
I would imagine 80-90 would be more comfortable though.

100psi probably "feels faster" but I doubt very much if you would be actually slower at 80psi. A smooth ride is less fatiguing, and will allow you to ride fast longer.

I run my 28s (17mm internal width rims) at ~70psi at about the same weight. Unless you ride on glass-smooth roads, 100psi is probably hurting more than it's helping.

FWIW I enjoy riding my alloy wheelset a lot more than riding my LB wheels. Even though they’re definitely slower on flats and descents.

I am of the opinion that the most fun wheelset on a road bike (especially rim brake) is narrow(ish), shallow and alloy.

If you get a 19-20mm internal width rim, that is enough for a 28mm tire to be run at whatever low pressure you want without much flop. With a 23-25mm rim, you can run practically no pressure and still experience no flop. But why would you do that?

Wheels are building. Building. Building. Every time i've been checking, in the last hour, and the hour before, etc...
So, that's what... 2 weeks before they're in house? Perfect timing with restrictions being slowly lifted in Poland...

Random question out of curiosity.. is your CC charged at time of order or at time of shipment?

with the 35mm UL version you can build a 1212g disc brake wheelset for only $1240

Yeah, that would be pretty crazy, but I need that extra cm.

We've shifted the order to a Satin finish over the stealth decals. Should hopefully come up pretty mint and house a set of 28c GP5000's nicely

I'm curious why you are upgrading from the Newmen wheelset.

Sold them for 2/3 the price of the ar46. I get DT 350 hubs, 28 spoke count, cxrays instead of d-lights and 46mm carbon instead of 25mm alloy. Just a stronger wheelset that look better and my first foray into carbon. I've got my novatec/DT wheelset on at the moment and they roll pretty well as a backup. The colouring on the Newman's was also a little overbearing

That all makes sense. I thought the Newmen wheelset was CF.

The DT hubs might have some bearing drag at first, but they'll loosen up with a little time.

Had the same hubs in a set of ER1600. Best hubs I've owned. I might try a set of 36t this time around for a little more noise. Easy to pop in and out and service

I have DT350 hubs with CX-Ray spokes and 56mm Light Bicycle hoops, so I know there will be some drag. It's nothing to worry about.

I definitely recommend a 36t(or 54t) ring upgrade. It will add a little drag and some noise, but it's only noticeable when you are coasting.

I'm your weight and run 90psi on my 25s. Glad you tried a little lower
