Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Well it seems that I'm not the only one to experince such problems. Don't know whether it's good or bad.

Yeah, I've contacted them pretty much via email where they stated that EMS has problems with shipping commercial packages now. And I just was wondering if Russia is the only countru suffering from shipping problems.

Dear Sir,

Your attention please. As a result of the ongoing pandemic worldwide, EMS shipping service has slowed down significantly and rejects non-essential business recently. Now we will work with FedEx logistic shipping to deliver your order within 3-4 weeks of global transportation. Shall you need to change it to urgent delivery with FedEx expressing services which typically would be nearly triple the price of EMS shipping, please email us to discuss more asap if you need to do the change.

Be in touch if you have any further questions.

Best regards,

A little bait and switch on the shipping. I guess I’m OK with it for one dollar. It would look better if they were upfront about it. I have the option to express the shipping, but it’s not that important that I can’t wait.
I received this morning the same message. The shipment is to Germany.

if I have to wait 2 more weeks, I will wait. Otherwise, the promotion of 1$ shipment would mean nothing...

Hey all,
I ordered some wheels back in March. Assembly was almost a month and I got a shipping notification on the 28th of April. It said that shipping would be handled by FedEx (to the US) and that it would take about two to three weeks. I got this message this morning:

This is a further information for you about the multimodal transport emergency lane of FedEx who is now well organizing your order delivery with Light Bicycle.

More precisely speaking, it takes about 3 to 4.5 weeks for the packages to arrive at your doorstep, with the shipping fee well controlled. We have been using this new shipping approach for a month successfully.

Transit Time explained:
Step 1 - Shipment collected from our factory in Xiamen, China (1~2 days).
Step 2 - Shipment transported from Xiamen to Shanghai port via domestic flights (1~2 days).
Step 3 - Cargo be loaded onto the vessels and customs clearance (2~3 days).
Step 4 - Shipping from Shanghai to Los Angeles port (2~2.5 weeks).
Step 5 - Customs clearance and delivery within the US to your address (5~7 days).
No action is required by the customer, all of the clearance events are handled for you.

Please note, the tracking system for this emergency route is not perfect due to the limited time of preparation. Unfortunately, information will not update until the package has cleared import customs and is logged onto the FedEx system in LA. This no-update period will last about a month.

Thank you for your understanding about the situation affected by the coronavirus undergoing worldwide. Your great patience is highly appreciated.

I don't know how shipment is effected if you are outside the US, but if you are having wheels built in China and shipped to the US, it'll be awhile.

I have an order in the queue for a set of Hunt Carbon 50 Aeros but I am considering canceling and maybe going with a set of AR46s. Any idea if those are stocked anywhere or if they are all custom builds? What has been the typical lead time? I am not slated to have my Hunts ship until the first or second week of June.

You are out of luck. LB is all custom builds, and I doubt you'll get them before late June.

I'd still rather have the LB wheels though.

Light-Bicycle has a North American presence as well, but what they have or can build and ship out from their North American warehouse is more limited in terms of choices and whatnot compared to what they'll build and ship out of China. If what you want is common enough you might check out Light-Bicycle's page, look at their North American warehouse, and see if they have what you're after. If they do then this whole slow shipping from China due to the virocalypse may not affect you.

LB allows you to pick the hubs(instead of using Novatec), the hoops are wider by 2mm (internal width), and they are over $200 less.

Unfortunately the AR-46 is not available from the North American warehouse.

Worth the wait in my opinion.

There’s no way I’d pay more money, to get an inferior product, a few weeks sooner than a superior product.

That's fair, I will be placing an order! Can you help with the difference between the DT SWISS 350 and 240s hubs?

Canceling the Hunts is a smart move...I had the Aero 50's, and they were awful. The LBs, on the other hand, are very good, and an incredible value.

The 350's are a slightly scaled down/less refined version of the 240's...performance wise, you won't notice a difference

50-75g is the only difference I’ve ever seen.

Glad I found this thread and that I posted asking about wheels in this price range. I’ve got the wheels set up in my cart on my computer, I’ll pull the trigger when I get home. Plan on going no holes as well, unless somebody talks me out of it.

Ordered! Can't wait to ride them!

Here is the specs:
DT SWISS 350 QR / 100mm straight pull Non Disc Black 20H
DT SWISS 350 QR / 130mm Shimano Road 11S straight pull Non Disc Black 24H 54T
SPOKE Sapim CX Ray
NIPPLE Sapim Brass Black
AR46 hook Non Disc - Grooved Graphene Surface 20H matte UD Without Holes
AR46 hook Non Disc - Grooved Graphene Surface 24H matte UD Without Holes

Decal: Stealth

Are the LB pads the way to go, or what are people using with better success?

Rides4Beer might be able to help with brake pad experiences. I'm a disc brake guy.

I'm looking at these... can you post pics when you receive them? I'll ask about them again after you've put a few hundred miles on them!

I use Swisstop Black Prince pads, which are expensive and wear out like cheese, but that is the cost of running carbon clinchers on rim brakes. I prefer that over eating asphalt and having to spend thousands of dollars.

BTW: the AR46 is the 21mm internal rim right? I recommend going with 25mm DT Swiss TL tape. My friend got those rims and that tape worked well for him (with GP5ks)

He went with the no hole option - he shouldn't need tape.

What’s the benefit of having holes vs no holes?

Spoke holes make wheel building easier. No spoke holes means no fussing with rim tape; particularly with tubeless, that'd be nice.
