Great job on the brifters and cover up. My OCD self would be doing the same. Several weeks ago I pulled into a parking lot to meet my ride group and stopped on an incline. Dummy me unclipped my left foot as per usual, but I was on a slope and started tipping to the right. Yep I ate pavement....as I was tipping over in slow motion, knowing my bike was going to hit pavement...and my rear derailleur was on that side, I attempted to absorb the impact with my body. Got scuffed up pretty good and was bleeding on my knee, thigh, elbow and side of my torso. Looked like I was involved in a rolling crash lol. I told the wife I was involved in a high speed crash....then told her not really, I fell over in the parking lot...then she called me an idiot Ha Ha. The good thing is I was riding my backup bike that day and just got a couple scratches on the rear-d.

Oh too anwer your question I have seen your so called custom bike guessing it cost about 5 grand or so .if u can spend that kinda money for that then u much be rich or just like wasting money

Rich or like wasting my money? That makes no sense. It's either a waste of money or it isn't. How much money I have or don't have doesn't change whether the expenditure was a waste of money.

And if you must know, that was my pay off my mortgage WAY early present. I hadn't bought a new road bike in 10 years. The one I did have had corrosion issues.

Honey child. That is a custom designed, hand built, ceramic glazed (custom blend, if course) ti frame made by a two-time winner of best MTB at NAHBS. Don't know what the final cost was, in part because the wheels were moved over from my then current road bike. Plus, there was 8% sales tax. Even with the 2% for "cash," it was certainly more than $5K, but a super lot more. Overall, I think it was a great value. I would rather have one great bike made by an artisan and built up with a gruppo worthy of the frame than a bunch of mediocre bikes made in Taiwan. I mean, how many dinghies can you waterski behind, Gordon?

i wouldn't consider a dogma f 10 a bso as I do many miles on one and don't think anyone has assumed to date that it is one .also my bmc grandfondo gf1 with di2 is far from a bso maybe my other bikes but then again don't think so but as for your custom built bike if that is your cup of tea hope u enjoy the sipping

And over the years I've personally witnessed about a dozen others topple over while clipped in.
Sad to say but each time it brings a little smile to my face.

OP, glad you didn't get injured. But the relevant question is:
Did anyone see you fall at 1mph while clipped in?

Your bike is far from mediocre more bike than most people can ride to it's potential keep riding it as much as you can and enjoy it like a bike is meant to be enjoyed

better to fall at 1mph than 40-50mph. that would hurt much worse! but the pride still is hurt.

Thanks guys, glad I'm not alone. I had no pain afterwards and somehow didn't even scrape anything, and didn't find any damage on my new gloves either even. Not sure if anyone saw, I was so focused on making sure the bike was ok I didn't even look around, but I know there were people on the MUP across the street so I'm sure someone saw me.

Since I know everyone's just dying for the conclusion, got the new nameplate in today...not easy to break the screws loose without stripping, and really not easy to drop the new ones into place without losing them in the brifter innards (even with a magnetic screwdriver), but I managed to do both with no problems and the swap was successful.
