You guys are obsessing over Garmin data, imagine if they got your Google or Apple data. Everywhere you go, everything you look at.
As it was said, George Orwell would be shocked at the amount of personal information we give away for free. And the interweb never forgets. Anyone pay any of those DNA services? |

I don't consider discussing this possibilities around this topic to be "obsessing". I'd be concerned about a data breach or ransomware attack on Google or Apple too.
I work on mainframe systems for hospitals and the only way to protect the data is to have no public assess from the internet. VPN, SSL and SFTP are used to isolate the systems. |

I focused on them because they where especially nutty nits! They are your nits!
If it bothers you that somebody pointed that out, maybe, you shouldn't have mentioned them! Again, you mentioned them. And you suggested that insurance companies would illegally buy the info from criminals They don't have any value to anybody. Why mention them? |

Then throw away your Garmin and smartphone. And stop using the internet.

I'm not trying to eliminate all risk, nor am I questioning your expertise on the topic. Just because someone knows there's a possibility of risk with sharing data online doesn't mean they have to give up all concern about it. |

What a weird thing to argue about.
It was a weird thing for you to mention in the first place. |
Some of it is back on line. I was able to connect to Garmin Express and Garmin Connect but only desktop not IOS mobile.
|

My ride from yesterday just synced up so it's coming back slowly...
|
Had no problem syncing this last week this morning. All my data is intact. Good to have it back (nearly all of the way). I haven't had any server down or maintenace warnings since Sunday evening.
|
I'm back, i turned on my 530 and it automatically uploaded my missing rides, so i'm 100% back.
Now I can go back to more important things like worrying about Covid, the economy and the poor start to a 60 game season my Mets are having. |
I just did mine, took a bit but back to normal. So I am good...but it might take time to go 100%.....glad to go back to being normal.

I'm seeing the posts that Garmin is coming back, and I'm seeing some life, but not much.
Lisa uses iOS and she's getting more data on her Garmin Connect app; but my Android Garmin Connect app is still showing what it's has since Thursday. My Edge 1030 will not sync via the phone app, but will work with the desktop app and USB. Also, I can't access the Garmin Connect web page. I find it interesting that my Forerunner 645 is sending HR & step count data; but not sleep data. Another interesting thing is that we found our Garmin Index was still syncing data to MyFitnessPal over the weekend, but can't see it on Garmin Connect. My phone this morning (Jul 28): https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...e909c9c168.png * Yes, we have a lot of Garmin in our house and we've been watching this attack closely. Also, this outage has not stopped me from doing what I would do with Garmin products - including a 90-mile adventure ride on Friday that required loading a route on my 1030 created on Strava ... it's not that difficult. |

I think Garmin was reading my post ... within 2 hours, my Android app updated with all my data (from Forerunner, Edge, and Index) and a new message. The desktop site is still not loading, but I'm sure that'll be back shortly.
