Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I wanted some orange socks and ended up with some from GripGrab...a goofy name but they're great socks. I like my socks thin and these fit that bill plus they're low cut come up to just about the ankle. But I'm a rebel...I like low cut socks and wrapping my handlebars from the top down because the sound of boomers scoffing at me doing things "wrong" is music to my ears.

You can't go wrong with any of the socks mentioned really. Get the color you like and the length that your weakness to peer pressure will allow...and enjoy!

Then again, he might be talking about a different Swiftwick line. The Pursuit (merino) don't have half the compression of the Aspire (Olefin). I don't like the Aspire as much, they're less cushioned and don't feel as luxurious, but they do come in some gaudy bright colors that I like.
My curiosity about the Pursuit socks got the better of me, and I ordered a pair...and some gaudy light blue Aspire 4s.

It's not a bad time - they've got 20% off on their website right now. I might pick up another couple pair.

Pro Tip: If you sign up to be harassed by their email marketing, you can get another 20% off. I ended up with 3 pair for almost $20 off their regular prices.

I'm already signed up, but this makes me wonder if I could use another one of my email addresses.

Socks for winter: merino socks found in a hiking/outdoor/camping shop. There are several different options available.

Socks for summer: https://www.bamboozld.com.au/catalog...esult/?q=socks

For example, Rowan has these:

I think SmartWool makes the best socks. They have multiple styles of cycling-specific socks plus tons of other options. I've been wearing them for years. I have three different weights (summer, spring/fall, and winter) and multiple heights. If you don't see what you like in the cycling-specific models, look at other areas.

Check out Darn Tough. They have 3 or 4 different weight socks. Their socks last me forever.

Ill second that on Darn Tough socks. They have different weight socks and different lengths. I wear their socks for hunting, work, biking, and everyday use. Best of all they have a lifetime guarantee. I have worn Darn tough socks for a number of years now, and even though they are hard to wear a hole in. I have sent back two different pair, and they have given me a full refund for the value of that sock, to buy another pair of the same or something else. Great company, and they are made in Vermont.

New Socks Days!! I got a nice little package from Swiftwick this weekend with 3 pairs - Pursuit 4, Vision 5, Aspire 4. The Pursuit 4 is their wool blend (these are not the "ultralight" version). The material feels really nice, but they're a little thicker than I tend to prefer. I can see these being really excellent for cooler weather. I wore them around the house on Saturday evening - very comfy. Did 40+ miles on Sunday with the Vision 5. The length is just about the limit of what I think is reasonable. The fabric feels about the same thickness as the Pursuit, but it's a non-wool blend. They're definitely nice, but felt a bit warmer than the Aspires that I usually wear. The Aspire 4 remains my favorite for length, fabric, thickness, and fit (I have a narrow foot).

I too suggest Swiftwick. American made. Feel great, I use Aspire 4 & 7. Love the thinness and moderate compression. Highly recommend. Tempted to throw out all my casual socks and just go Swiftwick
