Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Open your eyes to the real danger, people!
The more gravel you ride the higher your bear:cager concern ratio.

That reminds me of my other ride hardship. I came across a road closed barrier. wut

I went around the barrier, but after I rounded the curve I saw workers so I decided not to press it. Went back to the only nearby detour street, and it also had a road closed sign. But no one working there so I took it. It appeared they were putting in some kind of pipe? There was a channel cut through the road, now covered with gravel. I had to get off my bike and walk through the gravel. To make matters worse, there were loose gravels all over the road for the next 1/4 mile.

I don't remember kindergarten naps, but I'm sure we had them. In NC, we had naps in first grade believe it or not. This girl Becky and I would tickle each other to see who would get in trouble first.

We went to Catholic Pre-K (probably the only choice) when we were yutes in Italy. The folks must've figured Catholic schools were just fine cuz we went to Catholic kindergarten when we got back to the states.

Today marks the 39th anniversary of the release of Rio by Duran Duran!

My favorite off the album (I've got the 12" single I love it so much):

All the times I ridden in forests on and off road I've never felt threatened by a bear and only saw little ones except in Tahoe where I saw little ones following their mom.
I have been scared by mountain lions a couple times, however.

Just a reminder, guys, gun discussion is not allowed in these forums outside of the P&R sub forum. It tends to become quite contentious, and frankly who needs that.

More relevantly, how is it that a supposed long-term cyclist, here four+ years, doesn't know what a cager is?

I remember kindergarten naps. Our teacher played records during naptime.

Oh?

So far 2021 isn't any worse than 2019. Except there's no community band for the foreseeable future. That's bad.
