Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

A stroke of good fortune. I got in touch, via fb, with my former riding buddy, who now lives in Spain. Via a group he posted, I'm finding complete giro stages uploaded. The commentator proved the Colombian origins of the feed when he went bat**** over Bernal's victory in stage nine. I had to check to see if it was really the final stage. It was not

After a late breakfast, the completion of the travel bike build is on the docket. Time to get some rides in on that thing. I haven't ridden it since 2018.

It's hard to be a pacifist in this case. She raced with the 50+123 men, and the open classes, because she wanted to get better. I raced with her a few times, and she was a legitimate badass.

That sucks. It's stories like that that upset my wife about me riding on the roads.

Same thing happened to a local female competitive cyclist some years ago.

This is the best coffeeshop layout bar none. They should all be required to have walkup windows.

What if I put weights in the trunk of the Honda?

Supposedly make drivetrain more efficient but I think this benefit is miniscule.

I believe it's a fraction of a watt. Maybe 0.6w? It's tiny.

edit: see this for info

Hate to tell you, but your senior Honda is front wheel drive. Putting weights in the trunk will only make things worse. Strap them on your hood.

Oh. I see I'm going to need to do a little more research before my winter driving tour.

As a ute I did hear stories of people putting weights in the back when it snowed.

It saves a fraction of a watt, but makes you much faster because you'd better get your ass in gear and move with that kind of bling on your sled.

The larger diameter jockey wheels means that the chain doesn't have to bend as tightly going around them. This does save a teeny bit of energy, but it's prolly best to think of OSPWs as pinky rings - they're divisive pieces of bike jewelry.
