Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I don't remember. Is that the film where a guy tries to draft a truck on the interstate?

No. It's the one where the guy succeeds in drafting a truck on the interstate.

Going 60.

In the small ring.

no. and no. after all you haven't paid for their advice or instructions. If you are having so much trouble with how to wrap your bars, take the tape and bike to your LBS and pay a professional to do it for you.

I think my Trek 660 with Campy Nuovo had a 53-42. In fact, I don’t think I went to a 39 until 2001, several bikes after that.

Strike that. I put a 39 on my Guerciotti when I went to Italy in ‘95.

You're already an emotional wreck, aren't you? I can't see how you could suffer any more emotional distress than you already seem to have! But, if they have enough insurance or bikes we can snatch, I'm in!

I think maybe, but I may also just be having anxiety about not having any stress numbers for the weeks I'm going to be off the bike, traveling and sailing, this season. Without numbers I no longer feel fully there and I hate what time off the bike does to the plots.

You should just go buy your own birthday present. I sold a car to a guy in San Diego who did just that. Worked for him.

Well, bikes from major manufacturers are hard to come by in my area, especially in small sizes. I’d been looking since last summer and there was nothing... zip. My only requirement was carbon frame, disc brakes, carbon bars, and Di2. I’m a fan of Italian mystique and owned several Italian bikes over the years.

By chance, a mail-order shop in my area gets in a lot of “special” buys from Colnago and other Italian manufacturers like Campagnolo. You never know what they have and you just have to keep checking the website. This bike was a never registered bike used for bike shows and was now being sold at a very deep discount with a new warranty.

I couldn’t pass it up and I love it. It meets all my requirements and the handling is superb, the setup from the dealer was perfect, price was right, and it even has bar tape!

As you may or not know, I have bradycardia and my Apple Watch was constantly waking me up in the night. The advice from my cardiologist was to quit wearing my watch to bed and I wouldn’t be aware of it.
